Google’s Vigilance in App Security
In response to these threats, Google took decisive action in 2023, removing approximately 2.3 million suspicious apps from the Play Store. Despite the company’s robust security protocols, some harmful applications still manage to slip through the cracks. However, once identified, these apps are promptly removed to safeguard users.
Moreover, Google has implemented a ban on over 300 apps that were found to be circumventing Android’s security measures. These applications, which had amassed over 60 million downloads, were notorious for displaying deceptive advertisements aimed at stealing users’ personal information and attempting to extract credit card details through phishing schemes.
