Gmail gives Android users a window into email attachments with this update

What you need to know

Gmail is set to enhance the user experience for Android users with a new update that introduces notification previews. This feature, which is gradually being rolled out, will allow users to see the title of incoming emails alongside a sneak peek of any attachments, such as photos, directly in the notification panel. This compact alert format aims to provide a more informative glance at incoming messages, much like a text notification.

In addition to the notification previews, Google is also introducing a unified Purchases Tab within Gmail, designed to help users keep track of their online orders. As the holiday season approaches, this “Arriving Soon” tab will display all orders and tracking details prominently, offering a comprehensive overview of what users can expect to arrive soon. Google has described this feature as a way to give users a “bird’s eye view” of their purchases and upcoming deliveries.

As November brings a flurry of deals, Gmail’s Promotions tab will also be updated to provide users with timely nudges about offers tailored to their interests, ensuring that they don’t miss out on potential savings.

Another noteworthy enhancement is the one-tap appointment booking feature, which integrates seamlessly with Google Calendar. This update allows users to manage their appointments and meetings directly within Gmail, eliminating the need to switch between applications. For Workspace customers, adding booking pages to email drafts is now just a click away, facilitating easy scheduling with clients, partners, or anyone outside their organization whose calendar may not be accessible.

Google emphasizes that this feature is particularly beneficial for users looking to streamline their scheduling processes, making it easier to coordinate meetings without the hassle of navigating multiple platforms.
