Google launches Gemini app for Android in India with support for 9 local languages — how to use 

Google announced the launch of Gemini AI in India for all Android phones. Initially launched for Android 12, now Gemini AI can be used for a wider range of devices. Google has recently expanded support for its AI assistant to older Android devices. Users with devices running Android 10 and 11 can now install and enjoy the AI chatbot via the latest app updates.

Gemini AI available in India

The latest version of the Gemini app for Android, v1.0.626720042, will support devices running on Android 10 and 11. This is expected to reduce the minimum system requirements from Android 12. In case you are using older Android versions, you can now download Gemini through the Google Play Store and enjoy the app without relying on the web version. Gemini 1.5 pro represents a significant leap forward in artificial intelligence technology.

In addition to this Google explained in a blog post that they will be launching the ability to chat with Gemini in Google Messages, starting in English.

How to install the new Gemini

  • Check your phone’s software version: Go to Settings > About Phone or System > About Device.
  • Download Gemini: Open the Google Play Store app on your phone. Search for “Gemini” and download the app.
  • Set Gemini as your default assistant:
  • Open the Google app.
  • Tap your profile picture or initial in the top right corner.
  • Select “Settings” and then “Google Assistant.”
  • Look for “Digital assistants from Google.”
  • Choose “Gemini” from the available options.
