As the quest for knowledge expands, so too does the challenge of managing the myriad of articles and links that come with it. Traditional methods like note-taking apps or bookmarking in web browsers often fall short, leading to a cluttered digital space and a sense of overwhelm. However, a refreshing solution has emerged in the form of a unique FOSS Android application designed specifically for this purpose.
Linkora: Don’t Lose Links Again!
Developed using Kotlin, Linkora serves as a comprehensive link utility app, allowing users to consolidate all their links in one accessible location. With just an internet connection, users can effortlessly retrieve their saved content. My experience with the app, installed from F-Droid on an Android 12 device, was seamless. Adding new links is straightforward: a simple tap on the plus button leads to the “Add a new link” option, where users can paste URLs and include titles, notes, and select appropriate folders such as Saved Links or Important Links.
Once populated, Linkora presents saved links in an organized list, complete with options to archive, copy, or share. Users can enhance their organizational strategy by creating new folders; tapping the plus button again allows for easy folder creation. To add a link to a specific folder, simply select the desired folder before saving. In instances where link titles fail to appear, the “Force Auto-detect title” feature provides a handy workaround.
For those looking to manage links more comprehensively, a three-dot button beside each link opens a menu with various options. Users can view notes, rename titles, refresh titles or images, move links to archives, or delete them altogether. The app also supports manual searches through the “Search” page, with all folders accessible via the “Collections” page.
Linkora offers an additional layer of organization through the creation of new panels, easily done from the left-hand sidebar menu. This feature allows users to focus on specific topics within designated folders, enhancing the overall user experience.
The settings menu is replete with useful features, including an AMOLED theme option, in-app browser usage, and customizable layout settings. Users can choose from multiple views such as Regular List View, Title Only List View, Grid View, and Staggered View. Furthermore, a dedicated “Data” menu facilitates easy data migration, offering options to import and export data in both JSON and HTML formats.
Install Linkora
The latest versions of Linkora are readily available on F-Droid, while the GitHub repository hosts the source code and the most recent APKs for those interested in exploring the project further.
