Spotify has unveiled a fresh look for its tablet app, a move that promises to enhance the user experience for both tablet and select Android foldable devices. This redesign, which has been gradually rolled out over the past few months, is now officially accessible to all Spotify users.
According to a post on Spotify’s blog, For The Record, the new design is tailored specifically for tablets, moving beyond merely enlarging mobile components. Users will find a familiar interface, but with a notable emphasis on a dedicated “Now Playing” panel positioned on the right side of the screen. Other elements remain anchored to the left, though a button allows for a fullscreen view of the “Now Playing” feature.
The bottom navigation bar has also undergone a transformation, now divided into two distinct sections. This change aims to streamline navigation and improve accessibility for users.
Compatibility with Foldables
Interestingly, the redesigned interface is not limited to Android tablets; it has also been made available on certain foldable devices. Users have reported seeing the new design on models such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Honor Magic V6, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. However, it appears that some devices, like the Oppo Find N6, are not yet supported. This discrepancy likely stems from optimization challenges related to aspect ratios or screen densities rather than a deliberate exclusion.
As the Spotify app continues to evolve, it reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing user experience across various platforms. The redesigned UI is a step forward in making music streaming more intuitive and visually appealing, especially for those utilizing larger screens.
In addition to the tablet app, Spotify also launched a revamped Wear OS app earlier this year, further expanding its efforts to improve accessibility and functionality across devices.
