Truecaller, a prominent global platform dedicated to verifying contacts and blocking unwanted communications, has unveiled its latest innovation: Truecaller Lite. This new application is tailored specifically for entry-level Android smartphones, targeting users across Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
Addressing Market Needs
In regions where spam and fraud are surging, entry-level Android devices remain the primary means of internet access. However, users of these devices often grapple with limitations in storage, memory, and processing power, making it difficult to run more complex applications. Truecaller Lite has been meticulously designed to bridge this gap.
Weighing in at a mere 10 MB, Truecaller Lite is a native Android app crafted from the ground up for devices with constrained resources. It offers essential protections such as caller ID, spam and fraud blocking, and number search, all while ensuring a fast, lightweight, and reliable user experience on entry-level smartphones.
Expanding Reach
Initially launched in Nigeria and Colombia earlier this year, Truecaller Lite is now set to expand its reach to additional markets including Kenya, Ghana, Algeria, Chile, Egypt, Iraq, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia, with further launches anticipated across emerging markets.
This expansion comes at a critical juncture, as the prevalence of fraud and unwanted communication continues to escalate globally. In 2025 alone, Truecaller identified over 68 billion spam and fraud calls worldwide. Many of the most affected markets are those where entry-level Android devices are prevalent, underscoring the urgent need for accessible protection.
Commitment to Safe Communication
“Safe communication should not depend on the phone you have,” stated Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller. “The next billion users live in markets where entry-level devices are often the norm. Truecaller Lite is a new product built specifically for them, and it was important for us to provide the same protection from spam and fraud that users expect from Truecaller around the world.”
Truecaller Lite is now available for download across the newly added markets via the Google Play Store.
