Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5670 (Dev Channel)

Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5670 (KB5060838) to the Dev Channel. Changes in Dev Channel builds and updates are documented in two categories: new features, improvements, and fixes that are gradually rolled out for Insiders who have enabled the toggle to receive the latest updates (via Settings > Windows Update), and those rolling out to everyone in the Dev Channel. For more information, see the Reminders section at the bottom of this blog post.

Passwordless Improvements

In an exciting collaboration with 1Password, we are introducing a seamless plugin passkey provider integration in Windows 11. The setup process is designed to be straightforward:

  • Install 1Password Beta on your Windows 11 PC.
  • Navigate to Settings > Passkeys > Advanced options to enable the plugin credential manager.
  • Activate support and complete user verification using Windows Hello (face, fingerprint, or PIN).
  • Utilize your existing passkeys saved to the plugin credential manager or save new ones.

To use a passkey, visit a website where you have an account linked to a saved passkey, select it, and sign in effortlessly with Windows Hello.

For developers of credential managers, we encourage you to integrate with Windows 11 to assist customers on their passkey journey. For more implementation details, visit this link.

FEEDBACK: Please submit your feedback in the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Security and Privacy > Passkey.

Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

[General]

  • This build updates the versioning under Settings > System > About (and winver) to version 25H2, marking Windows 11, version 25H2 as this year’s annual feature update. Windows 11 will follow an annual feature update cadence, releasing in the second half of the calendar year.

[Voice access]

  • Support for Japanese is temporarily disabled as we work to resolve some bugs.

[Settings]

In addition to recent modifications in the EEA region regarding default browsers via Settings > Apps > Default apps, we are also implementing the following change:

  • The new default browser will now be pinned to the Taskbar and Start menu unless you opt not to pin it by deselecting the checkboxes.

Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

[File Explorer]

  • Resolved an issue that could lead to File Explorer Home crashing, which might also cause File Explorer to crash on launch.
  • Fixed a problem that caused the thumbnail for a pinned favorite in Home to vanish.

[Start menu]

  • Corrected an issue that resulted in duplicate entries appearing when interacting with folders on the Start menu.
  • Fixed an inconsistency with the folder expand animation in certain scenarios.

[Input]

  • Addressed a significant ctfmon.exe crash in the latest flights, which could hinder typing capabilities.

[Other]

  • Fixed a memory leak that could occur when the lock screen was set to display a slideshow, potentially affecting performance over time.
  • Improved the responsiveness of system dialogs to increased text scaling, ensuring that prompts like “You must restart your computer to apply these changes” now support it.

Fixes for everyone in the Dev Channel

[General]

  • Resolved the issue that caused the Windows Vista boot sound to play instead of the Windows 11 boot sound. The fix was not fully effective in the last Dev Channel flight.

Known issues

[General]

  • [UPDATED!] When joining the Dev Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2, users will now be offered the most current update available in the Dev Channel, bypassing Build 26200.5641.
  • [UPDATED!] Some Windows Insiders may encounter a rollback when attempting to install this update, receiving a 0x80070005 error in Windows Update. We are actively working on a fix. If affected, using Settings > System > Recovery > “Fix issues using Windows Update” may resolve the issue.

[Start menu]

The following are known issues for Windows Insiders with the new Start menu:

  • Touch navigation in the new Start menu may not function reliably, particularly with the swipe-up gesture.
  • Drag and drop capabilities are limited from “All” to “Pinned.”

[Xbox Controllers]

  • Some Insiders are experiencing a bugcheck when using their Xbox Controller via Bluetooth. To resolve this, open Device Manager, click on “View,” then “Devices by Driver.” Locate the driver named “oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)” and uninstall it.

[Click to Do (Preview)]

The following known issues will be addressed in future updates:

  • Windows Insiders on AMD or Intel™-powered Copilot+ PCs may experience delays during the first attempt to perform intelligent text actions in Click to Do after a new build or model update.

[File Explorer]

The following are known issues for AI actions in File Explorer:

  • Narrator scan mode may not function correctly in the action result canvas window for the Summarize AI action for Microsoft 365 files when reading bulleted lists. As a workaround, use Caps + Right key to navigate.

[Widgets]

  • Until we finalize support for pinning in the new widgets board experience, pinning will revert to the previous experience.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel

  • Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package (Build 26200.xxxx).
  • Many features in the Dev Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and gradually expanding as we monitor feedback.
  • For those eager to be among the first to receive features gradually rolled out to you, enable the toggle to receive the latest updates via Settings > Windows Update. Over time, we will increase the rollout of features to all users with the toggle on. If you keep this toggle off, new features will be rolled out to your PC over time as they become ready.
  • Features and experiences included in these builds may never be released as we explore different concepts and gather feedback. Features may evolve, be removed, or replaced without further release beyond Windows Insiders. Some may appear in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Some actively developed features previewed with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized; localization will occur as features are finalized. Please report any localization issues via Feedback Hub.
  • Be aware that some accessibility features may not function with features like Recall and Click to Do while in preview with Windows Insiders.
  • As the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths, there may be instances where features and experiences debut in the Beta Channel first.
  • For a comprehensive overview of which build is in which Insider channel, check out Flight Hub.

Thanks,
Amanda & Brandon
