Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7653 (KB5074157) to the Beta Channel. Changes in Beta Channel builds and updates are documented in two buckets: new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out for Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available (via Settings > Windows Update*) and then new features, improvements, and fixes rolling out to everyone in the Beta Channel. For more information, see the Reminders section at the bottom of this blog post.
Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out with toggle on*
[Account Settings]
The design of dialogs in “Accounts > Other Users” has received a modern facelift, now utilizing the WinUI framework and offering support for dark mode:
It’s important to note that the visibility of the above dialog option is contingent upon whether a domain-joined work or school account is configured on the device.
Feedback: We encourage you to share your insights in the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under “Settings -> User Profile Account Settings.”
[Click to Do]
The Copilot prompt suggestions in Click to Do will now load instantly, enhancing user experience. However, this change is not yet available for Windows Insiders in the EEA (European Economic Area) or China.
[Desktop Background]
- Users can now set .webp images as their desktop background through Settings > Personalization > Desktop Background.
Fixes gradually being rolled out with toggle on*
[Taskbar and System Tray]
- Addressed an issue where the taskbar, when set to autohide, would appear unexpectedly, obstructing app interaction at the bottom of the screen.
- Resolved a problem that occasionally prevented the Start menu, notification center, and quick settings from opening with a click, although keyboard shortcuts remained functional.
[Start menu]
- Fixed a memory leak associated with the Start menu that could lead to performance degradation over time.
- Rectified an issue for Arabic and Hebrew users where the Start menu would open on the incorrect side of the screen if the taskbar icons were not centered.
- Addressed a touch interaction issue where opening a folder of pinned apps in the Start menu would inadvertently dismiss it.
[Bluetooth]
- Resolved an issue that caused the battery level of Bluetooth devices to not display for some Insiders after the latest builds, despite the devices supporting this feature.
[Xbox full screen experience for PC]
- This build rectifies unexpected app and game behavior when using Full-Screen Experience (FSE). We continue to validate scenarios and will keep the known issue active for now. We appreciate the feedback from our Insiders!
[Login and Lock Screens]
- Fixed an issue that could cause the password icon to appear blank on the login screen.
[Settings]
- Resolved a crash issue in Settings when interacting with audio devices in the last two builds.
- Fixed a discrepancy in the keyboard character repeat delay settings in Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Keyboard.
[Other]
- Addressed several issues with clipped text in msinfo32 when using high display scaling.
- Fixed an issue impacting some Insiders where clicking on .appinstaller files to install MSIX packages resulted in an invalid argument error.
- Resolved an issue in Notepad where certain fonts did not display an underscore correctly when the display was set to 125%.
- Fixed an underlying issue that could cause explorer.exe to hang upon logging into your PC if certain apps were designated as startup apps, potentially preventing the taskbar from appearing.
Known issues
[Xbox full screen experience for PC]
- Some applications may exhibit unexpected behavior when using FSE, particularly those that expect to maintain a fixed size or launch additional windows.
[Taskbar & System Tray]
- We are currently investigating an issue where some Insiders do not see apps in the system tray when they should be visible.
[Display & Graphics]
- [NEW] We are addressing an issue that causes secondary monitors to display incorrectly, showing black screens for a small number of Insiders following the latest updates.
[Click to Do]
- We are working on a fix for an issue where the Microsoft 365 Copilot prompt box on selected images does not function if the Microsoft 365 Copilot app is not running.
Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Dev & Beta Channels
- Updates are based on Windows 11, version 25H2 via an enablement package (Build 26220.xxxx).
- Many features are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and gradually expanding as we monitor feedback.
- For those who wish to be among the first to receive features gradually rolled out to you, you can enable the toggle for the latest updates via Settings > Windows Update*. Over time, we will increase the rollout of features to all users with the toggle activated. If you choose to keep this toggle off, new features will be rolled out to your PC over time as they become ready.
- Features and experiences included in these builds may not be released to the public as we experiment with different concepts and gather feedback. Features may evolve, be removed, or replaced without ever being released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features may appear in future Windows releases when they are ready.
- Some features currently in development may not be fully localized, and localization will occur over time as features are finalized. Please report any localization issues via the Feedback Hub.
- For a comprehensive overview of which build is in which Insider channel, please refer to Flight Hub.
Thanks,
