Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27919 to the Canary Channel.
Changes and Improvements
[Windows Search]
- The organization of Windows Search settings has been refined. Users can now find all relevant settings consolidated under Settings > Privacy & security > Search. This update merges the previous “Search permissions” and “Searching Windows” settings pages into a single, streamlined interface. The refreshed design enhances usability, allowing for a clearer navigation experience through the various options available within Windows Search.
Fixes
[File Explorer]
- An issue that caused File Explorer to crash when accessing the digital signatures tab in file properties has been resolved.
[Input]
- Corrections have been made to ensure the Microsoft Changjie Input method functions correctly, addressing problems noted in the previous build.
- Issues affecting phonetic keyboards, including the Hindi and Marathi Phonetic Input keyboards, have also been fixed.
Known Issues
[General]
- [IMPORTANT NOTE FOR COPILOT+ PCs] Users transitioning to the Canary Channel from the Dev Channel, Release Preview Channel, or retail on a new Copilot+ PC may encounter a loss of Windows Hello PIN and biometric sign-in capabilities, accompanied by error 0xd0000225. Users can recreate their PIN by selecting “Set up my PIN.”
- During the upgrade to this build, the progress wheel may appear as a rectangular glyph rather than rendering correctly.
- [NEW] Users may experience multiple error pop-ups regarding unexpected elements when accessing the Group Policy Editor.
- [NEW] An underlying issue with dao360.dll may lead to crashes in some applications.
[Remote Desktop]
- [NEW] A recent issue has emerged where Remote Desktop is limited to using only the primary monitor, despite configurations for multiple monitors.
[Widgets]
- [ADDED] We are currently investigating reports of non-functional widgets following the upgrade to this build.
Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel
- The builds released to the Canary Channel reflect the latest platform changes early in the development cycle and should not be interpreted as aligned with any specific Windows release. Features and experiences in these builds may evolve, be removed, or never reach general release as we explore various concepts and gather feedback.
- Many features in the Canary Channel utilize Control Feature Rollout technology, initially available to a subset of Insiders and gradually expanding based on feedback.
- Some features may debut in the Dev and Beta Channels before appearing in the Canary Channel.
- Active development features previewed with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized immediately; localization will occur as features are finalized. Please report any localization issues via the Feedback Hub.
- To exit the Canary Channel, a clean installation of Windows 11 is necessary. Insiders cannot switch to a channel with lower build numbers without performing a clean install due to technical requirements.
- The desktop watermark displayed in the lower right corner of the desktop is standard for these pre-release builds.
- For a comprehensive overview of which build is in which Insider channel, please refer to Flight Hub.
Thanks,
Amanda & Brandon
