Microsoft has rolled out a new preview build of Windows 11 this week, introducing an updated version of the Windows Recall app. This revamped application features a fresh home page tab that highlights recent snapshots captured by Recall, along with snapshots from your most frequently used apps and websites.
Enhanced User Experience
The redesigned home page interface boasts a sleek and modern look, aimed at “bringing your recent activity and top-used content front and center, enabling you to easily get back to your previous tasks.” This intuitive layout allows users to swiftly navigate to snapshots taken earlier in the day, as well as to view snapshots from their top three most-used apps or websites at a glance. Notably, these top three selections are determined based on usage over the past 24 hours.
However, it’s worth mentioning that users who prefer not to have their most-used apps highlighted may find the lack of an option to disable this feature somewhat limiting. Currently, the new Windows Recall app is being tested among Insiders in the Windows 11 Beta and Dev Channels, with a broader rollout anticipated in the coming weeks as fall approaches.
Innovative Features on the Horizon
In addition to the enhancements in the Recall app, Microsoft is progressively introducing more features exclusive to Copilot+ PCs, which necessitate a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) of 40+ tops for optimal functionality. Among these innovations is Mu, a cutting-edge on-device AI model set to power Windows 11’s forthcoming AI agent in the Settings menu. This feature will empower users to search for or describe settings they wish to modify using natural language, streamlining the user experience even further.
