Microsoft has rolled out the KB5063709 cumulative update for Windows 10 versions 22H2 and 21H2, introducing a series of enhancements and fixes. This update is particularly notable as it addresses a critical bug that hindered users from enrolling in extended security updates.
The KB5063709 update is a mandatory release, encompassing Microsoft’s July 2025 Patch Tuesday security updates. It effectively resolves one zero-day vulnerability alongside 136 other identified flaws, reinforcing the system’s security framework.
Users can initiate the installation process by navigating to Settings, selecting Windows Update, and performing a manual ‘Check for Updates’. Given the mandatory nature of this update, it will automatically commence installation once updates are checked. To enhance user experience, scheduling a restart time for the installation can be beneficial.

What’s new in Windows 10 KB5063709
As the end of Windows 10’s lifecycle approaches in October 2025, Microsoft’s focus has shifted primarily towards minor bug fixes and operational enhancements. The KB5063709 update, however, addresses a significant enrollment issue related to extended security updates.
This cumulative update comprises seven fixes and changes that were previously tested in the July preview update. Notably, no new fixes have been introduced beyond those already identified.
The key changes and fixes are as follows:
- [Extended Security Updates] Fixed: An issue affecting the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) enrollment wizard. Users faced difficulties where clicking “Enroll now” would cause the wizard to open, load briefly, and then close unexpectedly. This problem stemmed from incomplete app registration, which has now been rectified to ensure a more seamless enrollment process.
- [Mobile Operator Profiles] Updated: Enhancements to Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles.
- [Secure Boot] New! Introduced the capability to deploy SKUSiPolicy VBS Anti-rollback protections via the Secure Boot AvailableUpdates registry key.
- [Core File Systems] Fixed: An issue that emerged in rare instances following the installation of the May 2025 security update and subsequent updates, leading to stability problems on certain devices.
- [Input]
- Fixed: A known issue with the Microsoft Changjie Input Method, where users were unable to select words after a recent update.
- Fixed: A known issue in the emoji panel search functionality, which returned no results after a recent update.
- Fixed: An issue affecting phonetic input methods, including the Hindi Phonetic Input keyboard and Marathi Phonetic keyboard, which were not functioning correctly after a recent update.
Microsoft has confirmed that there are no known issues associated with this update. For a comprehensive overview of the fixes, users can refer to the KB5063709 support bulletin as well as last month’s KB5062649 preview update bulletin.
