The recent adjustments to the Microsoft Store’s app update policy have sparked discussions among users and tech enthusiasts alike. Now, users can only delay individual app updates for a limited time. To manage these settings, one can navigate to Settings > App updates and toggle the option on the right-hand side. A pop-up notification will inform users that, while they may pause automatic updates temporarily, doing so could result in missing critical updates from developers. The available options for delaying updates are structured in weekly increments, allowing pauses ranging from one to five weeks.
This shift mirrors previous changes Microsoft implemented regarding its operating system updates. Initially, users could pause these updates indefinitely, but the company has since established a 35-day limit for mandatory updates following a software release.
