Emerging Trends in the ARPG Landscape

In the competitive arena of action role-playing games (ARPGs), Path of Exile, PoE 2, and Diablo 4 have established themselves as formidable titans. Yet, as titles like Last Epoch and Torchlight Infinite continue to make their mark, players may find it challenging to navigate this ever-evolving landscape. Recently, I’ve been reminded that the most engaging RPG experiences don’t always have to be sprawling epics that demand endless hours of commitment. Titles such as The Slormancer and Hell Clock offer compact, fulfilling gameplay that allows players to enjoy the journey without the pressure of racing against the clock for resets.

Stepping into this refreshing niche is Titan Quest 2, which has made a stylish entrance into the early access realm. Launched in August, the game has already seen the release of its second chapter, with developer Grimlore Games diligently expanding its features. Their ambitious roadmap extends all the way to 2026, and the latest update, which just rolled out this week, introduces two highly anticipated additions. One of these is keyword tooltips, an essential feature for any ARPG enthusiast. This allows players to hover over terms for detailed explanations, enabling them to craft their builds with newfound confidence.

Another exciting feature is the character creator, a tool I have long championed, especially given its absence in some leading titles like Diablo and Path of Exile 2. The customization options available in Titan Quest 2 are extensive, allowing players to express their creativity. Additionally, sharing your character designs is as simple as using a copy-and-paste text code, with Grimlore even providing two sample designs inspired by the classic aesthetics of the original Titan Quest.

Grimlore has been transparent about its pricing strategy since launch, indicating that the price of Titan Quest 2 would increase as the early access content expanded. We are now at that juncture, with the developer confirming that a price adjustment is imminent. Fortunately, a small Steam sale is currently underway, allowing players to purchase the game at its lowest price before the increase takes effect. While some may prefer to wait for the full 1.0 launch before making a commitment, I have found great enjoyment in exploring the current offerings. Among those who have shared their thoughts on Steam, an impressive 84% have rated the game positively.

In a message to the community, the developer expressed gratitude: “We would like to thank every single immortal soul who embarked on Titan Quest 2 early access on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Thank you for sharing essential pointers and insights to maneuver us in the right direction within the ARPG landscape. Furthermore, we want to inform you that we will perform a price adjustment of Titan Quest 2 to reflect the currently available content.”

Titan Quest 2 is currently available at a 10% discount on Steam until Monday, November 10, priced at .99 / £22.49. Starting Tuesday, November 11, the base price will rise from .99 to .99 (or regional equivalents) across all platforms. If you’re ready to step into the shoes of a legendary Greek hero, now is the time to seize this opportunity.
