Gameplay Mechanics

By hacking an enemy, players can inflict increased damage for a limited time, transforming them into ‘OPEN’ targets. This tactic is particularly advantageous against formidable bosses and elite foes. Following the defeat of the initial major boss, players gain access to Diana’s Overdrive Protocol, an ultimate ability that immobilizes enemies while dealing damage, further enriching the combat experience.
Weapons System
The weapon system in Pragmata may initially seem perplexing. Players can equip up to four different firearms, categorized into four distinct types, three of which function as consumables:
- Primary Unit (white): A basic pistol that evolves into an assault rifle, offering infinite ammo that replenishes when not in use.
- Attack Unit (red): High-damage weapons such as shotguns and railguns, albeit with limited shots.
- Tactical Unit (green): Crowd-control weapons, including traps and grenade launchers, also with limited ammunition.
- Defense Unit (blue): Defensive tools like clones or shields.
As players progress through the narrative, they will discover new weapons and can replenish their arsenal during combat encounters. However, utilizing Escape Hatch checkpoints resets all collected weapons and hacking modules, requiring players to start anew with their default loadout.
Healing and Recovery
Unlike many contemporary games, Pragmata does not offer passive healing between battles. Instead, players must utilize Repair Canisters to mend their suits, reminiscent of the resource management found in Dark Souls. These canisters are limited but can be replenished upon returning to the Cradle hub area. Players can increase their storage capacity for these canisters and discover additional ones hidden throughout the map.
The Shelter: A Hub of Activity
The Shelter serves as a central hub for managing upgrades, gear, and collectibles. Players will frequently return here to spend resources and interact with Diana, especially between story chapters. As players advance, they can enhance the Shelter, unlocking new facilities and equipment upgrades. The Unit Printer allows for the purchase of new items and upgrades, while the Firmware Updater simplifies the process of unlocking enhancements using Upgrade Components found in the game world.
Collectibles and Activities
Despite the linearity of Pragmata’s environments, a variety of activities and collectibles enrich the gameplay experience. Players can engage in:
- Red Zones: Challenge arenas that reward players with valuable materials after defeating enemies.
- Read Earth Memories: Collectibles that can be gifted to Diana for rewards.

New Game+ Mode
Upon completing the main storyline, players unlock a New Game+ mode, allowing them to restart the game with all previously acquired gear and upgrades.
