Exciting Updates in Far Far West Enhance Gameplay Experience
The high-octane team shooter Far Far West has quickly established itself as a favorite among co-op gaming enthusiasts, thanks to its engaging blend of slick shooting mechanics and an open-map mission structure reminiscent of popular titles like Helldivers 2. Developer Evil Raptor has announced significant changes in its first substantial update, aiming to enhance player experience and address community feedback.
One of the most notable adjustments is the overhaul of the Prestige system, which allows players to upgrade their heroes and weapons incrementally. Recognizing that the previous progression felt sluggish, Evil Raptor has decided to halve the grind, stating, “We’re in our first days of early access, but we believe that it’s not an excuse to have an extremely grindy system that takes out all the fun of leveling up.” This improvement will be achieved through increased experience gains and a restructured unlocking process for Joker and upgrade slots, ensuring a smoother progression. Players can now prestige their heroes and weapons up to level 15, up from ten, and unlock an additional bonus upgrade slot, bringing the total to six.
In addition to progression improvements, the update addresses the issue of players hoarding Jokers, which has disrupted the cooperative nature of the game. Evil Raptor acknowledges the challenge of balancing the game while maintaining a fair distribution of resources. To combat this, Jokers will now be instanced per player, meaning each player will only see their own Jokers, with each drop maintaining the same rarity for everyone. Players can choose to share their Jokers by dropping them on the minimap, though these shared Jokers will not trigger healing effects or exploitative behaviors. The drop rate of Jokers has also been adjusted, scaling down as more players join a session, ensuring a balanced experience regardless of team size.
Balance changes have also been introduced, enhancing various weapons and gameplay elements. The Bow now boasts increased base and backup ammo, with its Bend Speed upgrade providing a 10% bonus per level and requiring fewer upgrades to max out. The Dual Revolvers receive a base damage buff, while the Minigun’s Fire Rate upgrade has been doubled per level, with a reduction in the number needed to unlock. Additionally, the cost of main weapons has been reduced from 500 gold to 300, making them more accessible.
On the Joker front, the Overblast modifier has been significantly nerfed, as it was previously deemed too powerful, especially in higher difficulties. Now, it requires four missing shots in the magazine for each additional pellet added, rather than just one. Two enemy types have also been adjusted: only two Cryptic Deadeyes can target a single player at once, although their stagger duration has been increased for balance. Furthermore, Cryptic Deathrattles will now have a slight glow to enhance visibility, and a cooldown has been implemented to slow their attack rate.
The update also includes various bug fixes, minor balance tweaks, and quality-of-life improvements. Players can now carry both pigs and chickens in the lobby, and the Wishing Well has been enhanced to award Jokers. The gambling machine has become even more enticing, and players now have the option to ban others from joining their sessions. Mission unlock conditions have been clarified, and the Shine Bright buff can now be stacked up to eight times.
The first Far Far West update is live now. Evil Raptor expresses gratitude for player support thus far and encourages ongoing feedback, emphasizing its importance in prioritizing future developments. Players are invited to use the official Discord for technical assistance, bug reports, and other inquiries, while acknowledging that Steam discussions are monitored at a slower pace.
