Capcom Games Sell More on PC Than on Consoles, and Almost All Sales Are Digital

Capcom’s remarkable journey in the gaming industry continues to unfold, as the company reports unprecedented success on the PC front, now surpassing its console sales for the third consecutive year. This shift highlights a significant transformation within the gaming market, reflecting changing player preferences and technological advancements.

More Players Are Choosing Digital Games as Capcom PC Sales Surge

According to the latest financial report from TweakTown, Capcom achieved impressive milestones during the 2025 fiscal year, which concluded on March 31. The Japanese gaming giant sold nearly 60 million games, exceeding its own expectations by five million copies. Notably, the surge in PC sales has solidified this platform as Capcom’s most vital revenue stream, with 32.17 million copies sold on PC compared to 22.76 million on consoles.

This upward trajectory in PC sales is not a fleeting trend; it has been steadily rising over the years. In 2022, PC sales accounted for 52% of Capcom’s total game sales, a figure that has only grown since then. A key driver of this success is Capcom’s strategic pricing approach, which frequently includes discounts and promotions that resonate well with PC gamers.

The broader gaming industry is also witnessing a shift towards digital gaming. For instance, Microsoft is reportedly working on a system named “Positron,” which would enable players to convert their physical Xbox games into digital licenses, further illustrating the industry’s pivot to digital formats.

In addition to its sales achievements, Capcom is embracing innovation in game development by incorporating generative AI. The company has confirmed that it utilizes this technology for routine tasks such as error checking, research, and data analysis, allowing its creative teams to focus on more complex aspects of game design.

As Capcom continues to adapt to the evolving landscape of gaming, its commitment to digital sales and innovative practices positions it well for future growth and success.
