Microsoft has unveiled a forthcoming wave of changes to its subscription services, Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, set to take effect in October 2025. As part of this transition, eight titles spanning a variety of genres will be removed from the catalog on October 31, marking a significant shift for subscribers.
Impending Removals
The list of departing games includes:
- Day of the Tentacle Remastered
- Deep Rock Galactic
- Dead Static Drive
- Full Throttle Remastered
- Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris
- LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
- Wartales
- Wildgate
Once these titles are removed, subscribers will no longer have access to them unless they choose to purchase them separately. Among the most notable losses are the cooperative shooter Deep Rock Galactic, the action-adventure title LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and the tactical RPG Wartales. Additionally, two remastered classics from Double Fine—Day of the Tentacle Remastered and Full Throttle Remastered—will also bid farewell to the service.
Achievement Challenges
TrueAchievements has analyzed the time required for players to earn all achievements in the outgoing titles. For those looking to complete Day of the Tentacle Remastered and Full Throttle Remastered, the fastest completion time is approximately three hours each, provided players utilize detailed guides. In contrast, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris requires around 15 hours to unlock all 40 achievements, some of which are time-sensitive and necessitate four players or controllers.
The completion of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga presents a more daunting challenge, with estimates suggesting that earning all achievements could take between 80 and 100 hours, given the extensive collectibles, characters, and side missions involved.
Longer Endeavors
For those engaged in longer-term projects, Wartales and Deep Rock Galactic stand out. Achieving all accomplishments in Wartales is projected to take around 150 to 200 hours, while Deep Rock Galactic may require a staggering 300 to 500 hours for completion. Consequently, players who have yet to embark on these adventures may face a significant challenge in achieving full completion before these titles are removed from the subscription.
As for Wildgate and Dead Static Drive, the portal currently lacks sufficient data to provide time estimates for achievement completion.
While the removal of these two Double Fine adventures is noteworthy, it does not necessarily indicate that other titles from the studio will follow suit. This announcement pertains specifically to the second wave of deletions in October 2025, with future changes to the catalog hinging on decisions made by Microsoft and copyright holders.
