Expanding Game Library and Developer Support
The recently released Epic Games Store Year in Review highlights a significant expansion in its game offerings, with the catalog growing by 1,100 new titles. This surge is attributed to the successful adoption of Self-Publishing Tools and opt-in programs that allow developers to retain 100 percent of their revenue.
Epic Games has also celebrated the success of its Free Games Program, which has been running for five consecutive years. This initiative has enriched player libraries with over ,000 worth of premium PC titles through 89 giveaways, with plans to continue this program on both PC and mobile platforms into 2025.
Daily Active Users (DAU) reached a new peak of 37.2 million, while Monthly Active Users (MAU) saw a slight decline from 75 million to 74 million. Nevertheless, DAU increased by 6 percent to 31.5 million, and MAU also grew by 6 percent to 67.2 million, indicating a robust engagement level among players.
Top Games and Developer Relations
Among the most popular titles on the Epic Games Store, players have shown a strong preference for Genshin Impact, Rocket League, Honkai Star Rail, GTA 5, and Fortnite, based on player spending and engagement metrics.
In a direct message to developers, Epic reiterated its commitment to revenue sharing and third-party payment solutions. The Now on Epic program will extend for another year, concluding on January 31, 2026, and will include mobile games. Epic emphasized its belief that the success of developers translates to the success of the platform, noting that the metrics of success are evolving beyond traditional revenue measures.
Furthermore, the growth in third-party gametime is noteworthy, increasing from 2.41 billion hours in 2023 to 2.68 billion in 2024, reflecting an impressive 11 percent year-over-year growth.
Collaboration with Disney
In a strategic move last year, the Walt Disney Company announced its acquisition of a .5 billion stake in Epic Games, initiating a multi-year partnership aimed at creating a vast and interconnected games and entertainment universe linked to Fortnite. Recent reports suggest that the Fortnite x Disney collaboration event has transitioned into a “stable” build, although specific details remain under wraps. Notably, Fortnite leaker HypeX indicated that this status change likely signifies substantial progress and the achievement of key developmental milestones.
