As the holiday season approaches, gamers are reflecting on their year of play, and Valve is joining in the festivities with the launch of the Steam Year in Review 2024. This new feature, unveiled on Wednesday, mirrors similar offerings from Xbox and PlayStation, providing users with a comprehensive analysis of their gaming habits throughout the year.
How to check your Steam Year in Review 2024
Accessing your personalized recap is a straightforward process. Simply open Steam on your computer and navigate to your profile, or visit the web version directly. Once there, select “Year in Review,” and allow the system a moment to compile your data. For those using a Steam Deck, press the Steam button, head to the Store Home tab, and select “Steam Replay 2024.” It’s worth noting that any games not played during the year, such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, will not be included in your recap.
Your results will vary based on your gaming frequency and duration. Steam meticulously tracks your longest daily streaks and analyzes gameplay trends across the months. Users can expect insights into the total number of games played, including how many were new experiences for them.

For instance, October emerged as my most active month, largely due to my completion of a replay of BioWare’s Dragon Age series, which I documented in a recap. This was promptly followed by my immersion in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. In contrast, June saw the least time spent gaming, a reflection of my commitments to covering events like Summer Game Fest 2024 and the Xbox Games Showcase 2024. Notably, Supergiant’s Hades 2 ranked as my third most-played title, despite being in early access.
My gaming preferences leaned heavily toward mouse and keyboard, a natural choice given my affinity for strategy games. However, I did engage with a controller for six games, accounting for 16% of my total playtime, predominantly in Hades 2.
Sharing your Year in Review with friends is also a breeze. At both the beginning and end of your recap, you’ll find an option labeled “Share on social media or web.” This allows you to decide whether to keep your recap private for friends or make it publicly accessible. Additionally, you can enhance your profile by selecting “Add to Profile Showcase,” showcasing your gaming journey to the Steam community.
