Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have unveiled an exciting venture that is set to redefine the theme park experience. In a groundbreaking announcement, the two companies revealed plans for Minecraft World, a fully immersive land inspired by the beloved video game, which is scheduled to open in 2027 at Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London. This ambitious project, with an investment of £50 million (€57 million), aims to transform the virtual landscapes of Minecraft into a tangible reality.

Bringing Minecraft to Life

Designed to capture the essence of the game’s most iconic biomes, mobs, and items, Minecraft World will be the first of its kind at a major theme park. Visitors can anticipate a variety of attractions that promise to engage and entertain. Among the highlights will be a world-first coaster that promises to deliver thrills like never before, alongside interactive adventures and expansive block-built playscapes. The experience will be complemented by themed retail and dining options, ensuring that every aspect of the visit is infused with the spirit of Minecraft.

Angela Jobson, Senior Vice President of Global Brand at Merlin Entertainments, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing Minecraft’s creativity, bold adventures, and ridiculous fun to life at a theme park for the first time at Chessington World of Adventures. Minecraft World will allow friends and families to play, explore, and craft together on a truly epic scale.”

Jobson emphasized the collaborative effort with Mojang Studios, highlighting their commitment to authenticity. “Working closely together with Mojang Studios, we are meticulously creating an authentic world that the global community of Minecraft fans will want to immerse themselves in and experience the game in a whole new way,” she added.

As anticipation builds for the opening of Minecraft World, it is clear that this innovative project aims not only to entertain but also to foster creativity and connection among visitors, making it a landmark addition to the theme park landscape.
