Streaming PC Games to Android Just Got Better
Streaming PC games to your Android device is nothing new, but Razer’s latest “PC Remote Play” service brings a welcome upgrade. Now, you can stream games at the native screen resolution of your mobile device, eliminating those pesky black bars that often surround the gameplay.
Most PC game streaming services typically pull the game from your PC over the same network or via cloud infrastructure. However, they often stream at the same resolution as your monitor or at a common aspect ratio like 16:9. This can result in black bars on the sides of your mobile device’s screen, as modern phones and tablets don’t always fit into these aspect ratios.
Razer aims to solve this issue with its PC Remote Play service, which allows for streaming games “without black bars” by leveraging the full frame rate and resolution of your mobile device.
Automatic optimization that takes full advantage of your device’s powerful display: Enjoy incredibly sharp, smooth visuals on your device. Razer PC Remote Play automatically optimizes for the device’s maximum resolution and refresh rate, without locking gameplay to fixed aspect ratios.
The service initially launched in beta earlier this year but is now widely available to users. Some additional benefits of PC Remote Play include improved integration with the Razer Kishi controller, support for playing games from platforms like Steam, Epic Games Store, and PC Game Pass, and the use of the AV1 codec for high-quality streaming with low latency.
Razer has integrated PC Remote Play into its Razer Cortex app on Windows. Users can access the stream on their mobile devices through the Razer Nexus or dedicated Razer PC Remote Play apps on Android 14 and up and iOS 18 and up. Additionally, users can stream to other Windows devices, including gaming handhelds.
