In a recent announcement, Ubisoft has unveiled the name of its Tencent-backed subsidiary: Vantage Studios. This new branding, which was previously known by the codename ‘Nova’, marks an exciting development within the French publishing giant’s strategic framework.
Vantage Studios: A New Creative House
Vantage Studios is positioned as a pivotal division within Ubisoft, tasked with managing some of the company’s most iconic intellectual properties, including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six. Daniel O’Connor, Ubisoft’s senior editorial and communications manager, emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader transformation aimed at enhancing the company’s creative output.
According to O’Connor, “Vantage Studios represents a first step in Ubisoft’s ongoing transformation, with plans to set up additional creative houses and group its brands and franchises under the banner of a shared DNA and development expertise.” This approach is designed to foster stronger connections between developers and players, allowing for a more responsive and engaging gaming experience.
The structure of Vantage Studios is intended to grant developers greater autonomy while streamlining the process of incorporating player feedback. This dual focus not only enhances the creative freedom of the development teams but also leverages Ubisoft’s extensive resources, including its expertise, services, tools, and technology.
Vantage Studios brings together a diverse array of talent, with teams located in Ubisoft’s studios across multiple cities, including Montréal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia. This global collaboration unites thousands of seasoned developers, many of whom have played a crucial role in crafting some of Ubisoft’s most successful titles.
