Xbox Updates: Microsoft Announces New Features
Microsoft has revealed a series of new updates for Xbox this week, with a focus on enhancing the user experience. One of the key updates includes the ability to purchase games and Game Pass through the Xbox app on Android.
In a recent blog post, Microsoft shared that users of the Xbox apps on Android and iOS will soon have the option to buy games for their Xbox account, whether for streaming or console use. Additionally, players can also purchase add-on content and Game Pass subscriptions through the mobile app. The company plans to roll out this feature in beta on both platforms before making it widely available.
Another significant announcement is the expansion of Xbox Remote Play to more platforms. Players will now be able to stream their console through the web, including on mobile devices, Samsung and Amazon Fire TV devices, and Meta Quest. Furthermore, games from the original Xbox and Xbox 360 will now be compatible with remote play streaming.
However, it is important to note that Remote Play will be removed from the Xbox mobile app entirely as part of these updates.
Additional Upgrades
- Streaming purchased games via Cloud Gaming on Xbox consoles – Available starting today
- Increased support for games with “Stream Your Own Game”
- Option to “Free up space” on Xbox consoles
