Google App launches ‘Activity’ tab for Android users: What’s inside

In a notable update to its Android app, Google has introduced an “Activity” tab, which now occupies the last position on the bottom navigation bar, replacing the previous “Saved” tab. This change was officially announced by the tech giant on May 25, 2025, and aligns with its ongoing efforts to enhance user experience.

Features of the New Activity Tab

The “Activity” tab is thoughtfully organized into three distinct sections, designed to streamline how users interact with their search history and saved content. The first section, History, showcases the four most recent searches along with any websites accessed from the search results. Each entry is displayed on a card that includes essential details such as the favicon, query or page name, date, time, and domain. An overflow menu provides options to Save, Share, or Delete items, while tapping on the “[x] items” in the corner allows users to view a comprehensive list of their history.

Next, the Saved items section retains the familiar “All saved items” format, presenting content in a carousel view. This includes a diverse array of saved materials, such as websites, images, products, Google Maps listings, movies, and TV shows. The final section, Collections, offers both default and custom groupings of saved items, catering to individual user preferences.

For those who prefer the previous layout, the old Activity tab remains accessible through the “Saves & Collections” option in the account menu, ensuring a smooth transition for all users.

In addition to these enhancements, Google has made subtle adjustments to the Home tab’s space carousel, notably toning down the square Daily Listen card. The introduction of the “Activity” tab reflects Google’s commitment to providing users with a dedicated space to manage their digital footprints effectively. Furthermore, this new feature synchronizes seamlessly with Web & App Activity, a robust tool that tracks interactions across various Google services, simplifying the process of managing personal identities and interests.
