Samsung’s app for Android XR-powered Galaxy Glasses shows case, ‘One UI XR’ [Gallery]

Samsung’s anticipated Galaxy Glasses are still a bit of a mystery, with their release not imminent. However, recent leaks have provided intriguing insights into what these first Android XR glasses might offer.

According to SammyGuru, screenshots from the Galaxy Glasses companion app have surfaced, showcasing the hardware design, particularly the Warby Parker model. This app will serve as the interface for pairing and managing the glasses, revealing a glimpse into the user experience.

One of the standout features is the carrying and charging case, which resembles a larger version of typical earbuds cases, diverging from the design of Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses. This case is equipped with an external light indicator to display charging and pairing status. Notably, it appears to utilize a contact-based charging method, eliminating the need for a wired connection.

The companion app is designed with user management in mind, featuring sections for handling imported photos and videos, adjusting various settings, and a dedicated page for software updates branded as “One UI XR.” This aligns with the Galaxy XR branding and indicates a tailored version of the Android XR platform. Given that the Galaxy Glasses are primarily an audio-focused product, the specific modifications Samsung may implement remain to be seen.

Additionally, hints within the app suggest potential integration with the Galaxy Ring, allowing users to control certain functionalities of the glasses through gestures. The strings of code indicate actions such as starting and stopping the glasses via ring gestures, showcasing an innovative approach to user interaction.

While both Google and Samsung have confirmed that the Galaxy Glasses are set to launch before the year concludes, the exact release date remains uncertain. Anticipation builds as more details are expected to emerge, potentially coinciding with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 launch next month.
