Tired of scrolling through your messy notes? Google Keep is fixing that

Google Keep, a staple for note-taking enthusiasts, is embarking on a journey of transformation with the introduction of a much-anticipated sorting feature in its Android app. This update, which is gradually making its way to users, promises to enhance the organization of notes, allowing for a more tailored experience.

New Sorting Features Unveiled

The latest version, 5.25.302.02.90, brings forth an array of sorting options that cater to individual preferences. Users can now choose from three distinct methods to arrange their notes:

  • Custom: This option empowers users to manually drag and drop notes into their desired order, offering a personalized touch.
  • Date created: This setting displays notes in the sequence they were originally created, providing a chronological perspective.
  • Date modified: For those who frequently update their notes, this feature keeps the most recently edited entries at the forefront.

Initially highlighted by a user on X (@BlindMan199), the sorting feature has been confirmed on select devices, indicating a limited rollout that may expand in the coming days or weeks. The presence of a new sort icon within the search bar signifies its availability for those fortunate enough to receive the update.

While Google Keep has historically allowed for manual rearrangement and the pinning of notes, the previous limitation of a reverse chronological order often left users seeking more flexibility. With these new sorting capabilities, individuals managing extensive collections of notes can expect a significant improvement in their organizational efficiency.

As the rollout continues, Google has yet to make an official announcement regarding the feature’s availability across different devices, accounts, or regions. For those who have not yet encountered the sort icon, patience may be the key as the update unfolds.
