Wispr Flow launches in India; offers Hinglish and Android app support

Wispr Flow Launches in India, Taps into Local Market Dynamics

Wispr Flow, an innovative startup specializing in AI-driven voice-to-text technology, made its official debut in India on Monday. This launch highlights the company’s commitment to catering to the local market, introducing full support for Hinglish and an Android application that features a user-friendly floating button for dictation.

Even prior to this formal introduction, Wispr Flow had already established itself as a significant player in India, emerging as the company’s second-largest market in terms of both users and paying subscribers. CEO Tanay Kothari shared insights with ET, noting that the Indian user base has tripled in just three months, primarily through organic growth. This surge is particularly evident within workplace tools like Slack and various coding environments.

“Today, @wisprflow is officially live in India! Before this launch, India became our second biggest market on its own. We 3x’d growth in 3 months with no campaigns or partnerships. People just found Wispr Flow organically and made it part of their daily life,” Kothari remarked in a post on X.

Founded in 2021 by Stanford alumni Tanay Kothari and Sahaj Garg, Wispr Flow initially focused on brain-computer interface hardware but later pivoted to voice-first software, aligning with the growing trend in generative AI. To date, the startup has successfully raised approximately million and was valued at 0 million in late 2025.

The introduction of Hinglish support is a strategic move aimed at enhancing communication for users in both professional and informal contexts. Additionally, the launch of the Android app broadens accessibility in a market where mobile usage is paramount.

Accompanying the launch was an innovative offline marketing campaign in Bengaluru, where the company deployed 100 branded auto-rickshaws throughout the city. This approach seeks to capitalize on high-traffic areas, presenting an alternative to the saturated digital advertising landscape. Kothari emphasized the unique opportunity this presents, stating, “We just discovered a hidden marketing opportunity that no one is paying attention to. It’s live now in the streets of Bangalore. US tech companies are burning millions on digital ads to reach Bangalore. But the entire city is sitting in traffic, looking at the back of an auto rickshaw.”

With Bengaluru known for its notoriously heavy traffic, Kothari pointed out that the average resident spends hours daily in transit, making this a prime opportunity for visibility. “Almost no one in tech is using it to their advantage. They’re all fighting for the same digital real estate,” he added in a LinkedIn post on Monday.
