Percona, renowned for its enterprise-grade open source database software, support, and services, has witnessed an uptick in adoption from numerous organizations. These entities are increasingly seeking to escape the constraints of proprietary licensing, mitigate vendor lock-in, and optimize their infrastructures to accommodate AI-driven workloads and evolving licensing models.
Innovative Launches and Strategic Developments
Several key product launches have reinforced Percona’s commitment to this strategy. Notably, the company unveiled the first fully open source implementation of Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) for PostgreSQL, effectively removing the need for proprietary extensions. Additionally, Percona introduced 24/7 enterprise support for Valkey, providing an open alternative in light of recent changes to Redis licensing. The company also rolled out fixed-scope Percona Bundles designed for optimization and scaling, alongside an expansion of Kubernetes Operators for MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL, which now includes general availability support for native MySQL Group Replication.

For instance, BBVA successfully migrated numerous mission-critical applications from proprietary platforms to Percona’s open source MongoDB stack, achieving a reduction in licensing costs while simultaneously enhancing performance and reliability.

The release of the State of Open Source Database Management Report, coupled with the hosting of two MySQL summits across the US and EU, underscores this commitment.
