Microsoft has recently rolled out a series of innovative features for Windows 11, transitioning several tools from the testing phase to general availability. These enhancements, which have been under scrutiny in the Windows Insider beta program, are now poised to enrich user experience on compatible devices, particularly those equipped with the advanced capabilities of a Copilot+ PC.
New Features Unveiled
Among the most notable additions is the introduction of semantic and agentic search functionalities within the Settings menu. Semantic search allows users to express their queries in natural language rather than relying on specific keywords, making it easier to navigate settings. Microsoft has previously explored this concept, but its application within the Settings menu marks a significant step forward.
In conjunction with semantic search, an agent has been integrated into the Settings interface. This feature enables users to request specific tasks, such as adjusting display settings, with the system either executing the command or guiding users through the necessary steps if direct action isn’t possible.
Furthermore, the update includes enhancements to the Click-to-Do feature, which now integrates with Copilot and a new application called Reading Coach. This functionality allows users to right-click on text to access context-aware actions, such as having text read aloud or working with it in Copilot to draft new content.
Upgrades to Paint and Photos
Microsoft’s Paint application is also receiving noteworthy upgrades. Users can now create AI-generated stickers for their images, alongside a new object select tool that promises to streamline image editing. This tool appears to draw inspiration from features previously found in Paint 3D, enabling users to remove objects from images with ease.
In addition, the Photos app is set to gain a new feature called Relight, which allows users to enhance their photographs with dynamic lighting effects. However, this feature will be limited to devices powered by Snapdragon X processors for the time being.
Enhanced Snipping Tool and System Stability
Another significant enhancement is the introduction of a “perfect screenshot” tool within the Snipping Tool application. This tool utilizes AI to refine the selection process, ensuring that users can capture precisely what they need with minimal effort. Alongside these features, Microsoft has implemented a new Black Screen of Death and a rapid recovery option, which has reportedly reduced unexpected crashes and restarts by 22% compared to the previous version of Windows 11.
These updates reflect Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to enhancing user experience through innovative technology, paving the way for a more intuitive and efficient operating system.
