What’s new in this preview update?
The redesign of File Explorer stands out among the new features, aimed at improving practicality for users. A notable enhancement is the automatic conversion of file sizes in the details view, which will now display sizes in MB or GB, rather than the more cumbersome thousands or millions of KBs. Additionally, users can now open folders in a new tab with a simple middle mouse click, and the file preview display in the “Recommended” section has also seen improvements.
In the realm of voice control, Microsoft is elevating the capabilities of Voice Access with the introduction of Voice Isolation. This feature is engineered to filter out background noise, while also allowing for the optional suppression of other voices, enhancing clarity during voice commands.
Windows Search is receiving a significant upgrade as well. The search functionality now accommodates file names that are just two letters long and can accurately identify applications even if their names are misspelled or incomplete. This improvement aims to streamline the search experience for users.
For those utilizing precision touchpads, new customizable settings for scroll and zoom speeds are on the horizon, promising a more tailored interaction with the device.
Additionally, the Windows 11 Start menu is undergoing modifications to enhance keyboard usability. Users will now find their current subscription status for Microsoft services displayed in the account section, making it easier to manage their subscriptions.
Another user-friendly feature allows individuals to set a custom battery level for when their PC should switch to power-saving mode. The update also simplifies widget usage on the lock screen, with the weather widget being the sole default display for new users.
