Publisher Perp Games and South Korean developer Project Cloud Games have unveiled an exciting update regarding the highly anticipated Soulslike title, The Relic: First Guardian. Initially slated for a 2025 release, the game is now set to launch on July 31 for PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5. Fans of the genre can also look forward to ports for Xbox Series S and X, as well as Nintendo Switch 2, which are expected to arrive later in the summer. Additionally, PlayStation 5 will feature an exclusive retail version available on September 4.
Game Overview
Set in the enchanting yet troubled world of Arsiltus, players will step into the role of a First Guardian tasked with combating a pervasive blight that threatens the realm. The game boasts an intricate combat system featuring over 70 boss encounters, five distinct weapon types, and twelve unique skill trees. This design allows players to craft their own personalized builds rather than adhering to a predefined class structure.
A notable aspect of the game’s mechanics is its innovative approach to stamina management. Unlike traditional systems that intertwine resource management with both offensive and defensive actions, The Relic: First Guardian reserves stamina exclusively for dodging and blocking. This design choice liberates players to unleash attacks freely, relying instead on skill cooldowns rather than a shared resource pool.
Progression within the game is driven by collectible items known as Relics, which replace conventional character leveling. These Relics introduce over 70 passive effects that can significantly alter combat dynamics, enhance skill outputs, and bolster weapon strengths, providing players with a rich tapestry of customization options.
While the official PC system requirements have yet to be disclosed, it is anticipated that this information will be released soon, given the imminent launch date.
