In a surprising turn of events, the console gaming landscape is experiencing a revival of exclusivity as both Xbox and PlayStation gear up to deliver unique gaming experiences. While Nintendo has consistently maintained its foothold in the exclusive arena, Sony has recently reaffirmed its commitment to console exclusives. In May 2026, the company announced that future single-player titles will indeed remain exclusive to the PlayStation 5, though some games currently in development will still see simultaneous launches across platforms. As anticipation builds, here’s a glimpse into the upcoming titles under the PlayStation banner for 2026 and beyond.
Upcoming PS5 Games
Among the most eagerly awaited titles are the new entries in the Spider-Man franchise. While the focus shifts away from the beloved web-slinger, Insomniac Games is set to introduce players to a fresh narrative featuring a well-known character from the Marvel universe: the iconic clawed Canadian mutant. This linear action game promises to deliver a thrilling experience, complete with familiar faces from the X-Men lore, and is expected to carry an M-rating due to its intense content.
Phantom Blade Zero – October 29, 2026 (Timed PS5 and PC Exclusive)
S-Game is bringing forth a Wuxia-inspired action game, marking the fifth installment in the Phantom Blade series. Originally developed in RPGMaker and known as ‘Rainblood,’ the new entry is described by studio founder Soulframe Liang as a “spiritual rebirth” of its predecessors. After a brief delay, Phantom Blade Zero is set to launch on October 29, 2026, for both PS5 and PC, with a subsequent release on Xbox and Switch 2 slated for Fall 2027.
God of War Laufey – February 16, 2027 (PS5 Exclusive)
Santa Monica Studio has unveiled the next chapter in the God of War saga, titled God of War Laufey. Set to release on February 16, 2027, this installment features Faye, Kratos’s wife and Atreus’s mother, embarking on a journey through the Everywhen—a realm in the afterlife where gods from various mythologies vie for dominance. With her quest to support her family continuing, Faye will be joined by an unexpected duo: a gelatinous cube and a ribbon, promising a unique gameplay experience.
Until Dawn 2 – 2027 (PS5 Exclusive)
Firesprite has also revealed a sequel to the acclaimed Until Dawn. While details remain scarce, the initial trailer introduced a new ensemble cast, including Neil Newbon, known for his role as Astarion. The narrative follows a group of amateur ghost hunters seeking fame on a supposedly haunted island, only to find themselves entangled in a genuine and perilous situation. Players can expect significant decision-making consequences, multiple endings, and intense cutscenes.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet – TBA (PS5 Exclusive)
Naughty Dog has kept fans guessing about its next project, which may potentially bypass the PS5 generation altogether. Following The Last of Us: Part 2, the studio has been developing an entirely new IP titled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Players will assume the role of Jordan A. Mun, a rogue bounty hunter navigating a retro-futuristic world on the distant planet of Sempiria. While specifics remain limited, Neil Druckmann has hinted at themes of faith woven throughout the narrative.
Fairgame$ – TBA (PS5 and PC)
Haven Studios is set to introduce its first multiplayer title, Fairgame$. Initially announced in 2023, this heist shooter has faced delays and development challenges, particularly following significant changes within the studio. Despite these hurdles, the anticipation remains, especially after the success of Helldivers 2, which suggests that if Fairgame$ does launch, it may also be available on PC.
Bonus: GTA 6 – November 19, 2026 (Timed Console Exclusive)
While not a first-party title, Rockstar Games is poised to release what could be the most significant game launch in history with GTA 6. Although it won’t be exclusive to the PS5, it will be available solely on consoles for a yet-to-be-announced period following its release on November 19, 2026. This highly anticipated title is expected to draw immense attention and set new benchmarks in the gaming industry.
