Technical Issues Plague Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

While developer BelmanteGu works on an unofficial Android port of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, PC version buyers are encountering technical difficulties. The developer showcased a demo version running on the Nintendo Switch and expressed intentions to bring the full game to smartphones.

According to the developer, the port operates natively, with Switch graphics commands being translated to Vulkan. Although gameplay is visible in the demo, issues with the interface and anti-aliasing persist. BelmanteGu aims to address these problems by enhancing graphics, incorporating FSR scaling, and achieving a frame rate of 60 FPS or higher.

On the other hand, purchasers of the official PC version are reporting various technical issues. Steam reviews highlight problems such as a black screen upon launch, freezing in the main menu, and frame rate drops during location transitions. One player mentioned that menu controls were unresponsive in the demo and remained problematic after purchasing the full game. As of now, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse has received a ‘mixed’ rating on Steam, with 53% positive reviews out of 149.

Developed by Evil Empire and Konami, the game is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Players take on the role of Rosa Belmont, who battles monsters in Paris using the iconic whip both as a weapon and a means of transportation.
