Sony has unveiled that the highly anticipated Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will feature Ray Tracing effects on PC, marking a significant milestone as the first title utilizing the Decima engine to support this technology. This announcement is sure to resonate with PC gamers eager for enhanced visual experiences.
Technical Enhancements
According to Sony, the integration of Ray Tracing by Nixxes will elevate the game’s visual fidelity through improved reflections and ambient occlusion. When activated, ray-traced reflections will enhance surfaces like water and tar, while ray-traced ambient occlusion will introduce more lifelike lighting effects, creating realistic shadows in crevices, corners, and between objects.
It is important to note that these Ray Tracing features were not included in the initial PC specifications shared by Sony. The earlier requirements pertained solely to the rasterized version of the game, indicating that players should prepare for increased CPU and GPU demands when utilizing these advanced graphical effects.
Returning Characters and New Faces
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will see the return of familiar faces such as Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Troy Baker, alongside new additions including Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and the acclaimed director George Miller. The narrative follows Sam as he embarks on a poignant mission centered on human connection, traversing a world fraught with otherworldly adversaries in a bid to save humanity from extinction.
PC Features and Release Date
The PC version promises an array of features, including uncapped framerates and support for ultrawide monitors, ensuring an immersive gaming experience. Additionally, it will support the DualSense controller and a variety of PC upscalers, including NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS.
Scheduled for release on March 19th, Sony has yet to provide review codes for the game, which means an immediate performance analysis may not be available. However, pre-orders are already in place, and initial impressions on PC performance will be shared upon the game’s launch. Stay tuned for further updates!
