Ubisoft Releases Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence on Mobile

Ubisoft has officially released Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence worldwide today on iOS and Android devices. The free-to-play third-person RPG shooter brings the popular tactical shooter franchise to mobile in a big way, offering a brand-new standalone experience set in the familiar chaos of a collapsing New York City.

Positioned chronologically between the events of the original The Division and The Division 2, Resurgence lets players step into the role of a newly activated Division agent during the early days of the Green Poison outbreak. As society begins to fracture and dangerous factions rise, agents must protect civilians, reclaim territory, and fight to restore order in the city.

The Division Resurgence features an all-new story campaign designed specifically for the mobile platform. New players can start with Bootcamp, a dedicated onboarding tutorial that teaches core mechanics like the cover system and helps them choose their first specialization. From there, the campaign unfolds through a series of main missions where players tackle urban chaos, assist civilians, and take on high-stakes objectives.

The game supports both solo play and co-op for up to four agents. This flexibility makes it easy to jump in alone or team up with friends for more challenging content. Mobile-first optimizations ensure smooth, responsive controls across all gameplay modes, including the fan-favorite Dark Zone.

Resurgence brings the deep RPG systems of the mainline series to mobile with extensive progression options. Players can choose from five distinct specializations: Demolitionist, Bulwark, Field Medic, Tech Operator, and Vanguard. Each comes with unique skills, powerful ultimate abilities, and signature weapons that can be freely switched to fit different situations or team compositions.

Gear and weapon customization remains deep, allowing players to fine-tune their builds as they progress. The game also includes a full suite of activities:

  • Dark Zone: The iconic PvPvE area returns with high-risk, high-reward extraction gameplay.
  • Conflict: A dedicated PvP mode focused on map control within a limited time.
  • Open World Activities: Secure outposts, disrupt deals, rescue hostages, and complete weekly quests.
  • Endgame Content: Legendary Challenge missions on Ultimate difficulty and Lone Wolf Challenge stages that scale with player performance.

Four enemy factions make their return, including the ruthless Raiders, Rikers, and Cleaners. A brand-new faction called the Freemen also joins the fight. These scavengers rely on exotic, homemade weapons and obsessively hoard anything useful in the post-outbreak world.

Players can also join Clans to share resources, upgrade facilities, and unlock new benefits together with other agents.

Developed internally by Ubisoft Mobile Games, The Division Resurgence was created from the ground up for handheld devices while staying true to the atmosphere and gameplay identity of the franchise. Creative Director Jonathan commented on the launch:

“Built from the ground up for handheld devices with an all-new story and mobile-first features, The Division Resurgence offers a fresh experience for both longtime fans of the franchise and newcomers alike. We can’t wait for players to explore this new chapter of The Division.”

The game is rated PEGI 18, matching the mature tone of the main series. It is available now as a free download on both the App Store and Google Play, with in-game purchases for cosmetic items and convenience options.

The launch of Resurgence represents Ubisoft’s continued commitment to expanding The Division universe across platforms. While the mainline games remain PC and console focused, the mobile version opens the door for a much wider audience to experience the franchise’s signature blend of tactical shooting, RPG progression, and atmospheric storytelling.

With additional content updates already planned following launch, the team aims to keep the game evolving with new missions, gear, and events. This live-service approach should help maintain long-term engagement for players who enjoy both the campaign and competitive modes.

For fans who have been waiting to return to New York City on the go, today marks the perfect opportunity. Whether you are a veteran Division agent looking for a new perspective on the outbreak or someone completely new to the series, The Division Resurgence delivers a complete experience optimized for mobile play.

The game is available to download right now on iOS and Android. If you have been looking for a shooter that you can play anywhere, this one is worth checking out immediately.
