Research firm Newzoo has unveiled its annual sales report for 2025, providing a comprehensive overview of the gaming landscape through the end of November. The report, which draws from Newzoo’s Game Performance Monitor, analyzes digital revenue across six key markets: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. This analysis encompasses revenue generated from January to November 2025.
Top Games by Revenue
In the realm of PC gaming, Battlefield 6 emerged as the frontrunner in revenue generation for 2025. Meanwhile, on consoles, EA Sports FC 26 claimed the top spot. The findings reveal a notable trend: both lists are dominated by shooter games and sports titles, highlighting the enduring appeal of these genres among gamers.
Newzoo’s analysis offers an intriguing perspective on the dynamics of revenue generation within the gaming industry. The company noted, “Taken together, the PC and console rankings illustrate a clear split in where value is being created. PC rewards variety, depth, and new IP, while console revenue remains anchored in scale, franchises, and habitual play.” This distinction underscores the differing strategies that resonate with players across platforms.
Active User Engagement
In addition to revenue, Newzoo also examined the top 10 PC and console games based on average monthly active users (MAU). On the PC front, Counter-Strike 2 secured the top position, while Fortnite led the console category. These rankings reflect not only the financial success of these titles but also their ability to engage and retain players over time.
As the gaming industry continues to evolve, these insights from Newzoo serve as a valuable resource for understanding the current trends and preferences shaping the market.
