Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.3941 (Beta Channel)

April 26, 2025

Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.3941 (KB5055634) to the Beta Channel, specifically for those utilizing Windows 11, version 24H2. This update introduces a variety of new features, improvements, and fixes, which are documented in two distinct categories: enhancements that are gradually rolled out for Insiders who opt to receive the latest updates, and those that are made available to all users in the Beta Channel. For further details, please refer to the Reminders section at the end of this post.

New features gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on*

New profanity filter setting for voice typing

In response to valuable customer feedback, we are pleased to introduce a new setting for voice typing that allows users to manage the profanity filter. When enabled, the filter will mask profanity with asterisks, maintaining the current functionality. Conversely, disabling the filter will allow profanity to be typed out in full. To modify this setting, simply open voice typing (Win + H), select the settings icon, and toggle the profanity filter option in the menu.

FEEDBACK: We encourage you to share your thoughts in the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Input and Language > Voice Typing (Windows key plus H).

[Click to Do (Preview)]

Click to Do is currently in preview for Windows Insiders on Windows 11, version 24H2 in both the Dev and Beta Channels on Copilot+ PCs.

  • If your device supports pen and inking, you can customize the shortcut button on your pen to launch Click to Do with a single-click, double-click, or press-and-hold action. This can be configured via Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Pen & Windows Ink.

[Improved Windows Search]

Improved Windows Search is also available in preview for Windows Insiders on Windows 11, version 24H2 in the Dev and Beta Channels on Copilot+ PCs.

  • For those signed into OneDrive with a work or school account (Entra ID), the search results will now only display matches for keywords found within the text of your cloud files, excluding photos.

[Taskbar & System Tray]

  • The Accessibility flyout in quick settings has been enhanced by grouping assistive technologies into categories: vision, hearing, motor, and mobility. This improvement aims to facilitate easier identification of the appropriate accessibility features based on individual needs.

[Login and Lock]

Fixes for everyone in the Beta Channel

[General]

Known issues

[General]

  • [REMINDER] Upon joining the Beta Channels on Windows 11, version 24H2, you will initially be offered Build 26120.3360. After this update, you will receive the latest available update. This two-step process to access the most recent 24H2-based flight in the Beta Channel is temporary.
  • Following a PC reset under Settings > System > Recovery, your build version may inaccurately display as Build 26100 instead of Build 26120. This will not hinder your ability to receive future Beta Channel updates, which will rectify this discrepancy.
  • Windows Sandbox may fail to launch, presenting a 0x800705b4 error. If encountered, you can resolve this by uninstalling and reinstalling the Sandbox feature through “Turn Windows features on or off”.
  • [NEW] We are currently investigating an issue where core Windows surfaces, such as File Explorer and the Start menu, are unable to load in safe mode following the previous flight.

[Xbox Controllers]

  • [NEW] Some Insiders are experiencing a bugcheck when using their Xbox Controller via Bluetooth. To resolve this, open Device Manager, navigate to “View” and select “Devices by Driver”. Locate the driver named “oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)” and uninstall it.

[Recall (Preview)]

  • [REMINDER] You maintain control and can remove Recall at any time via “Turn Windows features on or off”. Removing Recall will delete entry points and binaries, although temporary copies may remain for serviceability.
  • [REMINDER] Ensure your Microsoft 365 apps are updated to the latest version to seamlessly return to specific documents.

[Click to Do (Preview)]

  • [REMINDER] Intelligent text actions are now moderated locally to ensure prompt safety, having replaced the previous cloud endpoint. These actions are also available in Click to Do within Recall.
  • [REMINDER] If you notice that actions on image entities are missing, please verify that you have the latest updates for the Photos and Paint apps from the Microsoft Store.

[Improved Windows Search]

  • [REMINDER] For optimal performance of improved Windows Search on Copilot+ PCs, it is advisable to keep your device plugged in during the initial search indexing. You can check your indexing status under Settings > Privacy & security > Searching Windows.

[Start menu]

  • [NEW] We are looking into reports that clicking on your profile picture does not open the Account Manager for some Insiders after the last flight.

[Task Manager]

  • After the addition of the new CPU Utility column, you may observe that the System Idle Process consistently shows as 0.
  • The CPU graphs in the Performance page continue to utilize the previous CPU utility calculations.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel

  • Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2 will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package (Build 26120.xxxx).
  • Updates delivered to the Beta Channel are formatted to provide a preview of enhancements to servicing technology on Windows 11, version 24H2. For more information, visit this link.
  • Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and gradually expanding as we monitor feedback.
  • For those eager to be among the first to receive features gradually rolled out to you, enable the toggle to receive the latest updates via Settings > Windows Update*. If this toggle is kept off, new features will be rolled out over time as they become ready.
  • Features and experiences included in these builds may not be released, as we explore various concepts and gather feedback. Features may evolve, be removed, or replaced, and may not be released beyond Windows Insiders. Some may appear in future Windows releases when they are ready.
  • Some actively developed features previewed with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized, with localization occurring over time as features are finalized. Please report any localization issues via the Feedback Hub.
  • Note that some accessibility features may not function with features like Recall and Click to Do while in preview with Windows Insiders.
  • As the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths, there may be instances where features and experiences debut in the Beta Channel first.
  • For a comprehensive overview of which build is in which Insider channel, please refer to Flight Hub.

Thanks,
Amanda & Brandon
