The delivery of Windows 11, version 26H2 occurs via an enablement package for devices currently operating on Windows 11, versions 25H2 and 24H2. This lightweight update activates new features that have already been integrated into the operating system through prior monthly servicing updates. Since versions 26H2, 25H2, and 24H2 share a common servicing branch and underlying codebase, many components necessary for version 26H2 are pre-installed on devices, facilitating a notably faster update experience compared to traditional operating system upgrades. For eligible devices, the installation process resembles that of a monthly update, requiring only a minor download and a quick restart to transition seamlessly to Windows 11, version 26H2.

How to get it
Windows 11, version 26H2 is now accessible for eligible devices running Windows 11, versions 25H2 and 24H2. To ensure you are among the first to receive this update, navigate to Settings > Windows Update and enable Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available. Once your device qualifies, you will see the option to download and install Windows 11, version 26H2.
In line with our data-driven approach, we will be implementing a controlled feature rollout for version 26H2. During this phase, we may impose safeguard holds on devices where known compatibility issues could affect the update experience. We will continue to broaden availability over time and provide updates through the Windows release health hub.
Information for commercial and education customers
For commercial and educational entities, Windows 11, version 26H2 is now available through existing management tools used for Windows updates, such as Windows Autopatch and the Microsoft 365 admin center. Organizations can continue utilizing their current management tools, update rings, policies, and deployment practices. We advise commercial and education customers to initiate targeted deployments to validate applications, devices, and critical workflows before scaling up the deployment across their organizations.
Continuing the annual cadence of Windows feature updates, version 26H2 will be released in the latter half of the calendar year. As with prior annual updates, installing version 26H2 resets the support lifecycle for supported editions of Windows 11, offering 24 months of support for Home and Pro editions and 36 months for Enterprise and Education editions. Notably, select features and enhancements that were initially disabled by default in version 25H2 will now be enabled by default in version 26H2.
