Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27868 (Canary Channel)

Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the release of the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27868 to the Canary Channel. Notably, there are currently no plans to release SDKs for the 27xxx series builds.

Changes and Improvements

[Voice Access]

  • The voice access feature has been enhanced with an immersive in-product experience designed to announce new features and improvements. This update aims to facilitate the discovery and exploration of new functionalities within voice access. Users can easily launch or dismiss this experience through the settings menu.

Fixes

[Input]

  • An issue causing pen input to be unresponsive on certain PCs that support inking has been resolved. This fix may also enhance interactions involving touch.

[Other]

  • Addressed a problem from the previous flight that resulted in applications like Spotify failing to launch or install from the Microsoft Store, accompanied by an 0x80070032 error.
  • Corrected a rendering issue in the Group Policy Editor for some display languages, including Chinese, which previously resulted in large blank areas.
  • Fixed an underlying issue that led to some Insiders encountering a SYSTEMTHREADEXCEPTIONNOTHANDLED bugcheck in recent Canary builds.

Known Issues

[General]

  • [IMPORTANT NOTE FOR COPILOT+ PCs] Transitioning to the Canary Channel on a new Copilot+ PC from the Dev Channel, Release Preview Channel, or retail may result in the loss of your Windows Hello PIN and biometrics, displaying error 0xd0000225 with the message “Something went wrong, and your PIN isn’t available.” Users can recreate their PIN by selecting “Set up my PIN.”
  • An Administrative Templates error message may appear when opening the Group Policy Editor. Clicking OK should allow normal functionality to continue.
  • We are currently investigating an issue where the taskbar unexpectedly fails to display acrylic material after upgrading to this build.
  • Efforts are underway to resolve an audio issue affecting devices with high sampling rates (such as 192Hz) and multiple channels, which may not produce sound following the upgrade. We appreciate the detailed feedback from Insiders on this matter!
  • [NEW] When Virtualization Based Security is enabled, applications reliant on virtualization, such as VMware Workstation, will no longer function unless the “Windows Hypervisor Platform” optional component is installed. This component was previously not required.

[Task Manager]

  • Currently, search and filtering options in Task Manager are not operational.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel

  • The builds released to the Canary Channel reflect the latest platform changes early in the development cycle and should not be interpreted as aligned with any specific Windows release. Features and experiences included in these builds may never reach the general public as we explore various concepts and gather feedback. Changes, removals, or replacements of features may occur over time.
  • Many features in the Canary Channel are deployed using Control Feature Rollout technology, beginning with a subset of Insiders and gradually expanding as we monitor feedback.
  • Some features may debut in the Dev and Beta Channels before appearing in the Canary Channel.
  • Features still in active development may not be fully localized, with localization occurring over time as features are finalized. Please report any localization issues you encounter via the Feedback Hub.
  • To exit the Canary Channel, a clean installation of Windows 11 will be necessary. Insiders cannot switch to a channel receiving builds with lower build numbers without performing a clean installation due to technical setup requirements.
  • The desktop watermark displayed in the lower right corner of the desktop is standard for these pre-release builds.
  • For a comprehensive overview of which build is in which Insider channel, please visit Flight Hub.
  • Thank you,
