GTA 5 on PC is finally getting next-gen console enhancements, and GTA+ subscriptions

On March 4, players of Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC will receive a complimentary update that brings a host of enhancements previously reserved for console users on PS5 and Xbox Series. Rockstar Games has announced that all current PC owners of the game will be able to access this upgraded version at no additional cost.

New Features and Improvements

This update introduces a range of technical advancements, including:

  • Ray Tracing Features: Enhanced graphics with ambient occlusion and global illumination.
  • Support for AMD FSR1, FSR3, and NVIDIA DLSS 3: These technologies promise improved performance and visual fidelity.
  • Faster Loading Times: Utilizing SSD and DirectStorage for quicker access to game content.
  • Higher Resolutions and Framerates: Enhanced support for a variety of display settings.
  • DualSense Controller Support: Experience the game with advanced haptic feedback.
  • Enhanced Audio: Full support for Dolby Atmos, providing an immersive sound experience.

In addition to these graphical upgrades, PC players will gain access to several much-anticipated features in GTA Online. This includes a selection of new vehicles and upgrades available at Hao’s Special Works (HSW), a new Career Progress feature, and a revamped Landing Page. Players can also embark on the newly introduced Ambient Animals side quest, which allows them to encounter various wildlife throughout Southern San Andreas.

For the first time, PC gamers will have the option to purchase GTA+, the premium membership service for GTA Online. This subscription offers exclusive benefits, such as a monthly deposit of GTA0,000 and member-only Shark Cards that provide a 15% bonus on in-game currency.

In related news, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, recently reaffirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is on schedule for release later this year. During an investor presentation discussing Q3 earnings for the fiscal year 2025, the publisher confirmed that the highly anticipated title is still slated to launch in the Fall of Calendar 2025. Industry speculation suggests that competing game publishers are strategically delaying their own release dates to avoid overlapping with GTA 6, as they await confirmation of its launch timeline.
