Google Makes Mobile Games Available on PC
Google is shaking up the world of mobile gaming with a new announcement ahead of the Game Developers Conference next week. The tech giant revealed that all mobile Android games will now be accessible by default on Google Play Games on PC.
In a video for Android Developers, Aurash Mahbod, the vice president and general manager of games on Google Play, stated, “We’re making mobile games available on PC by default.” This means that popular titles like Clash of Clans and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, as well as upcoming games such as Game of Thrones: Kingsroad and Odin: Valhalla Rising, can now be played on either your Android device or your PC.
Google Play games will now display a playability badge on their download pages, indicating whether a game is optimized for PC, playable but in need of improvements, or untested but still runnable on PC. Developers will have the option to opt out of having their games playable on PC.
Additionally, Google announced that Google Play Games on PC will now be available on a wider range of devices, including AMD laptops and desktops. The service initially launched in beta in 2022, allowing users to play select Android games on their computers. Since then, Google has expanded the library of PC-playable mobile games, leading up to this latest development.
Why Play Mobile Games on a PC?
There are several reasons why playing mobile games on a PC may appeal to gamers. Some mobile games have complex controls that can be challenging to master on a touchscreen, making them more suitable for a console or PC setup. By bringing these games to PC, a wider audience can enjoy them.
Furthermore, playing games on a mobile device can sometimes be visually challenging due to the small screen size. By playing on a larger monitor, players can better appreciate the details in the game, such as spotting distant enemies or important items.
