Smart rolls out eSIM adapter for Android users

Philippines telco giant Smart has forged strategic partnerships with leading streaming platforms CignalPlay, iWant, VivaOne, and WatchApp, aiming to democratize entertainment in an increasingly mobile-centric world. These collaborations are designed to cater to a diverse audience of mobile-first content consumers, particularly those seeking affordable subscription options.

In a bid to enhance user experience, Smart is streamlining the payment process through Direct Carrier Billing. This innovative approach eliminates the need for credit cards or e-wallets, allowing users to pay directly with Smart airtime load for prepaid subscribers or through postpaid billing for postpaid customers. As a result, millions of Filipinos can access a wealth of entertainment at remarkably low prices.

Additionally, the partnerships introduce unique data packs tailored specifically for streaming, aligning with the growing popularity of microdramas and short-form content. This development comes at a time when traditional streaming subscription rates, such as those for Disney Plus and Netflix, continue to rise.

CignalPlay

Cignal TV’s video-on-demand service, CignalPlay, is set to enhance mobile entertainment accessibility through this partnership. The collaboration coincides with CignalPlay’s launch of microdramas, offering Smart subscribers the opportunity to access “sachet subscriptions” or tingi packages for these bite-sized content offerings. These packages start at an incredibly affordable PhP 20, with options for daily, weekly, monthly, and even annual subscriptions.

Viva One

In a similar vein, Viva One has established a partnership with Smart, allowing subscribers to enjoy over 400 shows via a direct carrier billing system, with plans starting at just PhP 99 per month. Furthermore, Viva is preparing to launch Viva Movie Box, a collection of microdramas designed for viewers who prefer engaging content on smaller screens at smart prices.

WatchApp

The WatchApp web application further broadens access to entertainment, offering various content starting at an astonishing PhP 5. This data-infused sachet package is specifically designed for mobile users on the go, enabling them to enjoy 90 minutes of uninterrupted streaming. iWant

Lastly, ABS-CBN’s over-the-top streaming service, iWant, presents a basic plan beginning at PhP 35. The platform has recently undergone a refresh, boasting a more intuitive interface that enhances navigation across all devices. Additionally, iWant is set to introduce a user interface specifically tailored for vertical format content, further catering to the evolving preferences of its audience.
