June 24, 2025

Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.4452 (KB5060836) to the Beta Channel for users on Windows 11, version 24H2. This update introduces a range of new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out to those who have opted in to receive the latest updates through Settings > Windows Update.

New Copilot+ PC experiences

Recall Homepage

In a bid to enhance user experience, we are excited to unveil a new personalized homepage for Recall. This feature is designed to streamline your workflow by showcasing your recent activity and most-used content, allowing for a seamless transition back to your tasks.

Once you opt-in to snapshot collection, your homepage transforms into a productivity hub that highlights:

  • Recent Snapshots: Quickly access your most recent snapshots captured by Recall, making it easier to resume where you left off.
  • Top Apps and Websites: A tailored view of the three applications and websites you have engaged with the most over the past 24 hours.

For further customization, you can set filters for the apps and websites saved in snapshots via Settings. More details can be found in the Microsoft Support documentation.

Additionally, navigation within Recall has been enhanced with a new sidebar, providing intuitive access to key features such as Home, Timeline, Feedback, and Settings. The core functionality of Recall remains unchanged, ensuring a familiar experience with these upgrades.

FEEDBACK: We encourage you to share your thoughts via the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Desktop Environment > Recall or through in-experience links.

New setting to move hardware indicators on your screen

Responding to user requests, we are pleased to introduce a new setting that allows you to reposition hardware indicators for brightness, volume, airplane mode, and virtual desktops. Users can now choose between the existing bottom position and new top left or top center placements on their screens.

To adjust the position of your flyouts, navigate to Settings > System > Notifications and select your preferred option from the dropdown menu.

FEEDBACK: We welcome your input in the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Desktop Environment > MTC controls and audio.

Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on*

[Start menu]

  • We are implementing a Boolean option in the Configure Start Pins policy, enabling administrators to apply Start menu pins once. This ensures that users receive admin pins on day one while retaining the ability to modify their pinned layout thereafter.

[File Explorer]

  • The rollout of AI actions in File Explorer, which began with Build 26120.4151, is being restarted after some Insiders experienced a temporary disappearance of the feature.

[Settings]

  • Recent flights have added the country or region selected during device setup under Settings > Time & language > Language & region.

Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on*

[General]

  • Resolved an issue from the previous flight that affected input functionality for some Insiders, including typing in Search and using the Chinese pinyin IME candidate window, clipboard history, and emoji panel.

[Taskbar]

  • Addressed a problem causing repeated explorer.exe crashes for Insiders using the Italian display language in the previous flight.

[File Explorer]

  • Fixed an issue where File Explorer Home displayed only a single folder for a limited number of users.
  • Resolved a performance degradation issue when navigating File Explorer, particularly when multiple SharePoint sites were synced.

[Settings]

  • Corrected an issue where items under Settings > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall updates appeared to be sorted randomly rather than by date.

Fixes for everyone in the Beta Channel

[General]

  • Fixed the issue that caused the Windows Vista boot sound to play instead of the Windows 11 boot sound.
  • Resolved the problem where the option to reset your PC under Settings > System > Recovery was non-functional in the previous build.
  • Addressed an underlying issue that led to certain KVM virtual machines unexpectedly failing to boot.

Known issues

[General]

  • [IMPORTANT NOTE] When joining the Beta Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2, users will first receive Build 26120.4250 before being offered the latest update. This temporary two-step process is designed to ensure a smooth transition.
  • After performing a PC reset, the build version may incorrectly display as Build 26100 instead of Build 26120, but this will not hinder future updates.
  • Some users may encounter a rollback when attempting to install this update, indicated by a 0x80070005 error. We are actively working on a resolution for those affected.

[Start menu]

Known issues for Windows Insiders with the new Start menu include:

  • Touch navigation may not function reliably, particularly with the swipe-up gesture.
  • Drag and drop capabilities are limited from “All” to “Pinned.”
  • Duplicate entries may appear in folders on the Start menu in certain cases.

[Xbox Controllers]

  • Some Insiders are experiencing bugchecks when using Xbox Controllers via Bluetooth. A workaround involves uninstalling the driver from Device Manager.

[Click to Do (Preview)]

Known issues will be addressed in future updates:

  • Insiders on AMD or Intel™-powered Copilot+ PCs may face delays when performing intelligent text actions in Click to Do after a new build or model update.

[File Explorer]

Known issues for AI actions in File Explorer:

  • Narrator scan mode may not function correctly in the action result canvas window for the Summarize AI action when reading bulleted lists.

[Widgets]

  • Pinning in the new widgets board experience is not yet fully supported, reverting to the previous experience for now.
