Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.5770 (Dev Channel)

August 30, 2025

Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.5770 (KB5064093) to the Dev Channel. This update signifies a notable increment in the major build number, now set at Build 26220, which will be exclusive to the Dev Channel. Meanwhile, Windows 11, version 25H2 is available as Build 26200 in the Release Preview Channel.

Changes in the Dev Channel builds and updates are categorized into two segments: new features, improvements, and fixes that are gradually being rolled out to Insiders who have opted in for the latest updates via Settings > Windows Update, and those that are being made available to all users in the Dev Channel. For further details, please refer to the Reminders section at the end of this post.

New Copilot+ PC experiences

New Microsoft 365 text action in Click to Do

A new text action is being introduced in Click to Do, enhancing productivity for users. The feature, Convert to table with Excel, allows Click to Do to recognize tables, enabling users to work more efficiently with information encountered daily. Whether it’s a table shared during a Teams meeting or a school calendar from a photo, users can now highlight any simple table and seamlessly send it to Excel, copy, or share it—all without the need to retype any cell.

To utilize this feature, simply press Win + Click on a table within any application, or use Win + Q or a right swipe and tap to select the table. Upon selection, the available actions will appear, including Convert to table with Excel. Just click, capture, and continue your workflow.

This feature is currently in early preview, and while table detection may not always function perfectly, improvements are expected in future flights to the Dev and Beta Channels. The rollout of tables in Click to Do is initially available to Windows Insiders on Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, with support for AMD and Intel-powered devices to follow. A Microsoft 365 subscription and the latest Microsoft Excel application are required to access the Convert to table with Excel feature. Notably, this change has not yet been rolled out to Windows Insiders in the European Economic Area (EEA).

View Microsoft 365 Profile Cards:

Instead of navigating through Microsoft Outlook or Teams to find someone’s profile, users can now access Live Persona Cards integrated into Click to Do. This allows for quick access to contact information and past collaborations directly from emails viewed in Click to Do. By pressing Win + Click on an email, if it belongs to your organization, the profile card will be displayed.

To utilize this feature, users must be signed in with a work or school account (Entra ID) and possess a Microsoft 365 subscription. Similar to the previous feature, this change is not yet available to Windows Insiders in the EEA.

New features gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

Get on-screen Braille and text output with Braille viewer

A new addition to Narrator, the Braille viewer, is being introduced, allowing users to view both on-screen textual and Braille representations of the output displayed on a refreshable Braille display. This tool is particularly beneficial for sighted teachers, assistive technology trainers, developers, and testers who may not read Braille or have limited access to a Braille display.

Teachers working with visually impaired students can leverage the Braille viewer to enhance their students’ Braille skills, as it enables them to visually follow along while the student reads from their connected Braille display.

To activate the Braille viewer, start Narrator using Win + Ctrl + Enter and then press the Narrator key + Alt + B. A new floating window will appear, updating its contents as Narrator is used. The number of Braille cells displayed will depend on the size of the connected refreshable Braille display. If no display is connected, the viewer defaults to 40 cells. Users can also adjust the size and position of the viewer through the settings menu.

NOTE: Ensure that Narrator is configured to provide Braille output. To download and install the Braille package, navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Narrator > Use a Braille display with Narrator.

FEEDBACK: Please submit feedback in Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Accessibility > Narrator.

Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

[Taskbar & System Tray]

  • Resolved an issue where clicking the date and time on a secondary monitor would inadvertently open the flyout on the primary monitor.
  • Fixed a problem where minimizing an app and switching between desktops could result in a duplicate preview thumbnail appearing when hovering over the app in the taskbar.

[Windowing]

  • Addressed an issue that caused explorer.exe to crash when using ALT + Tab for some Insiders in the previous flight.

[Display]

  • Corrected an issue where enabling HDR under Settings > System > Display would unexpectedly turn off after being activated, preventing users from enabling it again.

[Audio]

  • Fixed an issue that could result in audio ceasing to function shortly after casting to a TV.

[Other]

  • Resolved an issue affecting drivers for certain smart cards that were not functioning correctly in recent flights (showing error 31).
  • Corrected a typo in the diskusage help list (diskusage /?).
  • Fixed a problem where entering a PIN for casting from Quick Settings would not confirm upon pressing Enter.
  • Addressed an issue regarding the tooltip for the “Abort if insufficient memory” setting in Task Manager’s advanced section.

Known issues

[File Explorer]

  • Some users may find that the Shared section in File Explorer Home appears even when there is no content to display.

[Settings]

  • Investigations are underway regarding reports that Settings > System > Storage > Temporary files is becoming unresponsive during file scans. Additionally, previous Windows Installations may not be displayed.

[Audio]

  • [NEW] Some Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels are experiencing audio issues, with Device Manager indicating one or more devices with a yellow exclamation mark, including “ACPI Audio Compositor.” If affected, users can follow these steps to restore functionality:
    • Right-click on the device with a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager and select “Update driver.”
    • Choose “Browse my computer for drivers” and then “Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.”
    • Select the most recent driver from the list and click “Next.” If presented with a list of common hardware types instead of specific drivers, this device is not related to the issue.
    • The device should be repaired, and the yellow exclamation mark should disappear. If it persists, it may not be related to this issue.
    • Repeat these steps for each device showing a yellow exclamation mark.

[Xbox Controllers]

  • Some Insiders are encountering an issue where using their Xbox Controller via Bluetooth results in a bugcheck on their PC. To resolve this, open Device Manager by searching for it in the taskbar. Once open, click on “View” and then “Devices by Driver.” Locate the driver named “oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)” and right-click to uninstall it.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel

  • Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel receive updates based on Windows 11, version 25H2 via an enablement package (Build 26220.xxxx).
  • Many features in the Dev Channel are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and gradually expanding as feedback is monitored.
  • For those in the Dev Channel eager to be the first to receive features gradually rolled out to you, enable the toggle for the latest updates via Settings > Windows Update. Over time, feature rollouts will increase for those with the toggle on. If the toggle is off, new features will be rolled out over time as they become ready.
  • Features and experiences included in these builds may not always be released, as various concepts are tested and feedback is gathered. Features may evolve, be removed, or replaced without ever being released beyond Windows Insiders. Some may appear in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Some features currently in development may not be fully localized, with localization occurring as features are finalized. Users are encouraged to report any localization issues via Feedback Hub.
  • Note that certain accessibility features may not function with features like Recall and Click to Do while in preview with Windows Insiders.
  • As the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths, there may be instances where features and experiences debut in the Beta Channel first.
  • For a comprehensive overview of which build is in which Insider channel, check out Flight Hub.

Thanks,
Amanda & Brandon
