Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.5722 (Beta Channel)

July 29, 2025

Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.5722 (KB5062669) to the Beta Channel for Windows Insiders on Windows 11, version 24H2. Changes in Beta Channel builds and updates are documented in two categories: new features, improvements, and fixes that are gradually rolled out for Insiders who have opted in to receive the latest updates (via Settings > Windows Update*), and new features, improvements, and fixes that are rolling out to all users in the Beta Channel. For more information, please refer to the Reminders section at the end of this blog post.

New Copilot+ PC experiences

Introducing the new agent in Settings for AMD and Intel®-powered Copilot+ PCs

The new agent in Settings is now being rolled out for AMD and Intel®-powered Copilot+ PCs. This innovative feature aims to alleviate one of the most common frustrations users face: navigating and adjusting settings on their PCs. With this update, users can simply articulate their needs, such as “how to control my PC by voice” or “my mouse pointer is too small,” and the agent will provide tailored recommendations to resolve the issue. Utilizing AI, the agent comprehends user intent and, with permission, can automate and execute tasks on your behalf. Please note that this feature is available only if your primary display language is set to English.

FEEDBACK: Please provide your feedback in the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Settings > All other settings.

Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on*

[General]

  • Some Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels will notice a refreshed SCOOBE screen (Second Chance Out of Box Experience) for reviewing recommended settings on their PCs. This redesigned interface aims to be more intuitive and streamlined, allowing users to select their preferred recommended settings without navigating through multiple setup screens. If you encounter this screen, we welcome your feedback via the Feedback Hub.

[Click to Do (Preview)]

The following changes and improvements are rolling out for Click to Do on Copilot+ PCs:

  • A new tutorial for Click to Do is being introduced. Upon launching Click to Do for the first time, users will be guided through a quick interactive tutorial demonstrating how to accomplish tasks more efficiently. The tutorial will involve actions on both text and images, enabling users to quickly summarize large blocks of text or remove backgrounds from images. Users can revisit the tutorial anytime by selecting …, then Start tutorial.

[Taskbar & System Tray]

  • A change is being implemented to enhance the speed at which Windows applies enterprise pins to the taskbar when initiated by IT admins. This adjustment aims to minimize the time between the application of the pinning policy and its visibility to users. Previously, the policy was only applied upon explorer restart; now, the gap will be reduced to approximately 8 hours (policy refresh interval), eliminating the need for an explorer restart.

[Search on the Taskbar]

  • A new grid view is being introduced in the left pane of the search results within the Windows Search box on the taskbar, allowing users to more quickly and accurately identify desired images within their searches.

[Lock screen]

  • Updates have been made to the UI for configuring widgets on the lock screen, accessible under Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.

[Notification Center]

  • In response to user feedback, the functionality of Notification Center is being extended to secondary monitors. Users will now be able to view their calendar on any monitor, along with the option to display a larger clock showing seconds above the calendar. Notification Center can be accessed on any monitor by clicking the date and time in the system tray of the taskbar.

[Task Manager]

  • After addressing some issues, we are reintroducing the change in how Task Manager calculates CPU utilization for the Processes, Performance, and Users pages to Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels. Task Manager will now utilize standard metrics to display CPU workload consistently across all pages, aligning with industry standards and third-party tools. For backward compatibility, a new optional column called CPU Utility is available (hidden by default) on the Details tab, showing the previous CPU value used on the Processes page.

Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on*

[Taskbar]

  • Resolved an issue where the Task View icon in the taskbar might be unexpectedly invisible after toggling it off and back on in Settings (the space was reserved, allowing clicks to open Task View, but nothing displayed).
  • Fixed a race condition that could result in the Widgets icon not appearing in the taskbar, despite being enabled in Settings (no space reserved, and clicking the area yielded no response).

[Login and lock]

  • Addressed an issue causing lock screen widget text to be unreadable in certain instances due to white text on a light background.
  • Worked on resolving an underlying issue that could lead to slow taskbar loading when unlocking the PC after sleep, which may have also affected the rendering of the password field and other login screen contents during the transition from lock screen to login screen. Users experiencing ongoing issues are encouraged to report them in the Feedback Hub under Install and Update > Logon hangs.

[File Explorer]

  • Fixed an issue where attempting to use the unblock option in Properties for a file would still show it as blocked upon reopening Properties.

[Start menu]

  • Resolved an issue for users with the new Start menu where touch navigation was unreliable, particularly regarding the swipe-up gesture.

[Input]

  • Fixed an issue affecting the Microsoft Changjie Input method in the previous build.
  • Resolved issues with phonetic keyboards, including the Hindi Phonetic Input keyboard and the Marathi Phonetic keyboard, which were not functioning correctly in the previous build.

[Administrator Protection]

  • Addressed an underlying issue preventing the Xbox app from launching when administrator protection was enabled, which may have also impacted other applications, resulting in error codes 0xC0000142 or 0xC0000045.

[Settings]

  • Fixed an issue under Settings > System > Storage > Disks and Volumes where a link for BitLocker drive encryption appeared, despite it not being supported in that context. Clicking the link would open BitLocker and display error 0x80004005.

[Other]

  • Resolved an issue causing Insiders to encounter multiple error pop-ups regarding unexpected elements when opening Group Policy Editor.
  • Fixed an underlying issue leading to a small number of Insiders experiencing a bugcheck with the error DRIVERIRQLNOTLESSOR_EQUAL in the latest builds.
  • Addressed an underlying issue impacting installers for certain applications on ARM64 PCs, which could result in prolonged stalls during the installation process.

Fixes for everyone in the Beta Channel

[Graphics]

  • Resolved an issue where external graphics cards connected via Thunderbolt were unexpectedly undetectable in some scenarios.

Known issues

[General]

  • Some Windows Insiders may encounter a rollback when attempting to install this update, accompanied by a 0x80070005 error in Windows Update. We are actively working on a fix for those affected. If you are impacted, using Settings > System > Recovery > “Fix issues using Windows update” may resolve the issue.

[Live Captions]

  • Live captions may crash when attempting to utilize live translation on a Copilot+ PC.

[Xbox Controllers]

  • Some Insiders are experiencing issues where using their Xbox Controller via Bluetooth is causing their PC to bugcheck. To resolve this, open Device Manager by searching for it in the taskbar. Once open, click on “View” and then “Devices by Driver.” Locate the driver named “oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf),” where “XXX” corresponds to a specific number on your PC. Right-click on that driver and select “Uninstall.”

[Click to Do (Preview)]

The following known issues will be addressed in future updates for Windows Insiders:

  • Windows Insiders on AMD or Intel®-powered Copilot+ PCs may experience extended wait times on their initial attempt to perform intelligent text actions in Click to Do following a new build or model update.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel

  • Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2 will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package (Build 26120.xxxx).
  • Updates delivered to the Beta Channel are formatted to provide a preview of enhancements to servicing technology on Windows 11, version 24H2. For further details, visit this link.
  • Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and gradually expanding as we monitor feedback.
  • For Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel eager to be among the first to receive features gradually rolled out to you, you can enable the toggle to receive the latest updates via Settings > Windows Update*. Over time, we will increase the rollout of features to all users with the toggle activated. If you choose to keep this toggle off, new features will be rolled out to your PC over time as they become ready.
  • Features and experiences included in these builds may not be released as we experiment with different concepts and gather feedback. Features may evolve, be removed, or replaced, and may not be released beyond Windows Insiders. Some features could appear in future Windows releases when they are fully developed.
  • Some features currently in development may not be fully localized, with localization occurring over time as features are finalized. If you encounter localization issues in your language, please report them via the Feedback Hub.
  • Be aware that some accessibility features may not function with features like Recall and Click to Do while in preview with Windows Insiders.
  • As the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths from our engineers, there may be instances where features and experiences debut in the Beta Channel first.
  • For a comprehensive overview of which build is in which Insider channel, please check out Flight Hub.

Thanks,
Amanda & Brandon
