Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5661 (KB5060838) to the Dev Channel. This update introduces a variety of new features, improvements, and fixes, which are categorized into two distinct groups: those that are gradually rolled out for Insiders who have opted to receive the latest updates, and those available to all users in the Dev Channel. For further details, please refer to the Reminders section at the end of this post.
New Copilot+ PC experiences
Recall Homepage
In an effort to enhance your productivity, we are excited to unveil a new personalized homepage for Recall. This feature is designed to streamline your experience by showcasing your recent activities and frequently used content, allowing you to effortlessly return to your previous tasks. Once you opt-in to snapshot collection, your homepage transforms into a tailored productivity hub, featuring:
- Recent Snapshots: Quickly access your most recent snapshots captured by Recall, making it easy to pick up where you left off.
- Top Apps and Websites: A curated list of the three applications and websites you have engaged with the most over the past 24 hours.
Remember, you can customize which apps and websites are saved in your snapshots through the Settings. For more information, visit: Filtering apps, websites, and sensitive information in Recall – Microsoft Support.
Additionally, navigation within Recall has been enhanced with a new navigation bar located on the left side of the screen. This intuitive feature provides quick access to essential Recall functionalities, including Home, Timeline, Feedback, and Settings. Despite these improvements, Recall continues to operate as it has previously.
FEEDBACK: Please submit your feedback in the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Desktop Environment > Recall or through in-experience links.

New setting to move hardware indicators on your screen
We are thrilled to introduce a highly anticipated feature: the ability to reposition hardware indicators for brightness, volume, airplane mode, and virtual desktops on your screen. Users can choose from the existing bottom position or opt for the new top left and top center placements.
To adjust the position of your flyouts, navigate to Settings > System > Notifications and select your preferred option from the dropdown for Position of the onscreen pop-up.
FEEDBACK: Please submit your feedback in the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Desktop Environment > MTC controls and audio.
Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*
[Start menu]
- We are introducing a Boolean to the Configure Start Pins policy, allowing administrators to apply Start menu pins just once. This means users will receive admin pins on day one but can subsequently modify their Start pinned layout without losing those changes. These modifications can be applied through the existing configuration service provider (CSP).
[File Explorer]
- The rollout of AI actions in File Explorer is being restarted, following an initial introduction with Build 26200.5603. Some Insiders may have noticed the feature temporarily disappear.
[Settings]
- Recent flights have added the country or region selected during device setup under Settings > Time & language > Language & region.
Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*
[General]
- We have resolved an underlying issue from the previous flight that affected input functionality for some Insiders, including typing in Search, using the Chinese pinyin IME candidate window, clipboard history, and the emoji panel.
[Taskbar]
- Fixed an issue that caused repeated explorer.exe crashes for some Insiders using the Italian display language in the previous flight.
[File Explorer]
- Addressed an issue that caused File Explorer Home to display only a single folder (like Desktop) for a small number of users.
- Fixed a performance degradation issue when navigating File Explorer and opening the context menu, particularly when multiple SharePoint sites were synced.
[Settings]
- Corrected an issue where items under Settings > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall updates appeared to be sorted randomly instead of by date.
Fixes for everyone in the Dev Channel
[General]
- Resolved the issue causing the Windows Vista boot sound to play instead of the Windows 11 boot sound.
- Fixed a problem where the option to reset your PC under Settings > System > Recovery was non-functional in the previous build.
- Addressed an issue that led to certain KVM virtual machines unexpectedly failing to boot with an “UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR” message.
- Fixed a bug that caused a small number of Insiders to experience repeated bugchecks with KERNELSECURITYCHECK_FAILURE after upgrading to the latest Dev Channel builds.
Known issues
[General]
- [IMPORTANT NOTE] When joining the Dev Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2, you will first receive Build 26200.5641. After installing this build, the most recent update will be offered. This two-step process to access the latest flight in the Dev Channel is temporary.
- Following a PC reset under Settings > System > Recovery, your build version may incorrectly display as Build 26100 instead of Build 26200. This will not hinder your ability to receive future Dev Channel updates, which will rectify this issue.
- Some Windows Insiders may encounter a rollback while attempting to install this update, resulting in a 0x80070005 error in Windows Update. We are actively working on a solution for those affected.
[Start menu]
Known issues for Windows Insiders with the new Start menu include:
- Touch navigation in the new Start menu may not function reliably, particularly with the swipe-up gesture.
- Drag and drop capabilities are limited from “All” to “Pinned.”
- Duplicate entries may occasionally appear in folders on the Start menu.
[Xbox Controllers]
- Some Insiders are experiencing issues where using their Xbox Controller via Bluetooth results in a bugcheck. To resolve this, open Device Manager, click on “View,” then “Devices by Driver.” Locate the driver named “oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)” and uninstall it.
[Click to Do (Preview)]
Known issues that will be addressed in future updates include:
- Windows Insiders on AMD or Intel™-powered Copilot+ PCs may experience delays on their first attempt to perform intelligent text actions in Click to Do after a new build or model update.
[File Explorer]
Known issues for AI actions in File Explorer:
- Narrator scan mode may not function correctly in the action result canvas window for the Summarize AI action for Microsoft 365 files when reading bulleted lists. As a workaround, use Caps + Right key to navigate.
[Widgets]
- Until we finalize support for pinning in the new widgets board experience, pinning will revert you back to the previous experience.
Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel
- Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package (Build 26200.xxxx).
- Many features in the Dev Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and gradually expanding as we monitor feedback.
- For those wishing to be among the first to receive features gradually rolled out to you, enable the toggle to receive the latest updates via Settings > Windows Update*. Over time, we will increase the rollout of features to all users with the toggle activated. If you keep this toggle off, new features will be rolled out to your PC over time as they become ready.
- Features and experiences included in these builds may not be released beyond Windows Insiders as we explore different concepts and gather feedback. Features may evolve, be removed, or replaced over time. Some may appear in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
- Some features currently in development may not be fully localized, and localization will occur as features are finalized. Please report any localization issues via Feedback Hub.
- Note that some accessibility features may not function with features like Recall and Click to Do during the preview phase.
- As the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths, there may be instances where features and experiences debut in the Beta Channel first.
- For a comprehensive overview of which build is in which Insider channel, please visit Flight Hub.
Thank you for your continued support,
Amanda & Brandon
