Microsoft Issues Week D Preview Updates for Windows 11

Microsoft has rolled out the Week D preview updates for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2, providing a glimpse into the enhancements slated for the upcoming November Patch Tuesday updates. Users will be downloading Preview Update KB5067036, which upgrades Windows 11 version 25H2 to build 26200.7019 and version 24H2 to build 26100.7019. This substantial update introduces several key features and improvements.

Copilot+ PCs

Click to Do improvements. The prompt box has been refined for a more seamless interaction with Copilot. Users can now translate on-screen text, convert various units (including length, area, volume, height, temperature, and speed), and select objects on-screen using Freeform or Rectangle selection methods, or simply by pressing Ctrl + Click. Additionally, interaction with Live Persona cards from Microsoft 365 is now possible, and visual cues for essential items such as emails and tables have been introduced. For touchscreen users, Click to Do can be accessed by pressing and holding two fingers on the screen.

File Explorer improvements. In the Home view of File Explorer, hovering over a file now reveals quick action commands like “Open file location” and “Ask Copilot,” provided the user is signed in with a Microsoft account (MSA). Support for work and school actions is expected in a future update.

Voice access improvements. Voice action has been enhanced with Fluid Dictation, which aids in grammar, punctuation, and filler words in real-time. Users can also configure a delay before a voice command is executed, and support for Japanese has been added to Voice access.

Agent in Settings improvements. The Agent in Settings feature now includes support for the French language.

Windows Search improvements. The enhanced Windows Search (semantic search) is now accessible on all Copilot+ PCs.

All Windows 11 PCs

New Start menu. The Start menu has undergone a redesign, featuring a scrollable All section with category and grid views. Its responsive layout adapts to the display size, and Phone Link integration is facilitated through a new mobile device button next to the search box, complete with an expandable and collapsible side panel.

Taskbar improvements. The battery icon has been refreshed, now displaying colors that indicate the battery’s status: green for charging and healthy, yellow for battery saver mode, and red for critically low levels. Users can also opt to display the battery life percentage.

File Explorer improvements. File Explorer Home now showcases recommended files for users signed in with an MSA, a feature that can be disabled if preferred. Furthermore, third-party cloud storage providers can now integrate with File Explorer Home.

Lock screen improvements. The updated battery icons from the Taskbar are now visible in the lower-right corner of the lock screen.

Settings improvements. The Email & accounts page in Settings > Accounts has been renamed to Your accounts.

Administrator Protection. A new security control, currently in preview, can be enabled in Windows Security (under Account protection) or through Microsoft Intune or Group Policy.

Quality updates. This update also encompasses numerous bug fixes and security enhancements across the system, alongside new versions of four on-device AI models for Copilot+ PCs and a servicing stack update.

It is important to note that all the new features and changes mentioned are part of what Microsoft refers to as a Controlled Feature Release (CFR), meaning they will be rolled out gradually and randomly to users’ PCs rather than appearing all at once.
