Intego ONE now protects your iPhone too – and there’s 50% off in September

September 7, 2026

Intego ONE Complete, the comprehensive Mac security suite previously reviewed, has now made its debut on the iPhone with the introduction of the Intego ONE: VPN & Wi-Fi Security app. This new offering provides Complete subscribers with essential VPN protection, Wi-Fi security assessments, and a review of their iPhone’s built-in security settings—all at no extra charge.

It is important to note that this app does not serve as antivirus software for the iPhone. Rather, it enhances Apple’s existing security measures by focusing on vulnerabilities that users may inadvertently expose themselves to, such as insecure Wi-Fi connections, unprotected internet access, and critical iOS security settings that may not be activated. This distinction is crucial; while iPhones are generally resistant to conventional malware due to Apple’s stringent security framework, they remain susceptible to spyware, exploits, malicious websites, and other privacy threats.

The new app is accessible to both new and existing Intego ONE Complete subscribers. Currently, Intego is running a Back to School promotion, offering a 50% discount until September 30, which is available to everyone, not just students.

What is Intego ONE?

Intego ONE is the successor to Intego Internet Security X9, merging Mac antivirus protection with a suite of additional security and maintenance tools. It is currently featured as our top recommendation in the Best Antivirus for Mac guide.

Intego ONE is available in three tiers:

  • Essential: Offers antivirus and firewall protection.
  • Advanced: Includes SmartClean for enhanced system maintenance.
  • Complete: Incorporates Intego VPN and now features the iPhone app.

The Essential and Advanced packages are exclusive to Mac users. Our previous review of Intego ONE Complete highlighted its impressive malware detection capabilities, scanning performance, and robust firewall controls. In testing, it effectively handled over 130 malware samples and scanned more than two million files in approximately eight minutes.

While the Mac security features remain a compelling reason to consider Intego ONE, the new iPhone app expands the Complete package’s offerings.

What does Intego ONE do on an iPhone?

The iPhone version of Intego ONE serves as a blend of privacy protection, network security, and security configuration monitoring.

Intego VPN

When connecting to public Wi-Fi networks—such as those in hotels, cafes, or airports—Intego’s VPN encrypts your internet connection. Previously included with Intego ONE Complete for Mac, this VPN masks the user’s IP address and safeguards data on unsecured networks. Our tests revealed that it is user-friendly, featuring 51 server locations and commendable bandwidth and streaming performance. Its addition to the iPhone enhances its utility, as mobile devices frequently connect to unfamiliar Wi-Fi networks while traveling.

Wi-Fi security checks

Intego also offers Wi-Fi security checks for the network your iPhone is currently using. This quick test, taking around ten seconds, evaluates connection speed and identifies any potential security issues, focusing on whether the network employs strong encryption.

iPhone security check-up

The app can assess various built-in protections on your iPhone, informing users whether they are activated and functioning. Intego’s Device Check-Up can verify:

  • If a passcode is enabled.
  • If Face ID or Touch ID is activated.
  • Whether apps are allowed to track your activity.
  • If the iPhone is running the latest supported version of iOS.
  • Any changes that may compromise Apple’s security protections.
  • If screen recording is currently active.

The primary advantage lies not in the protections provided by Intego but in its ability to verify whether critical security features are enabled and to highlight potential weaknesses. Intego clarified that its alerts regarding changes that may disable Apple’s built-in protections primarily refer to jailbreak detection, and it does not typically flag MDM profiles as suspicious, as these are often used by businesses for device management. Future updates are planned to include Developer Mode detection, depending on the access permitted by Apple’s APIs.

But can an iPhone actually get a virus?

While one might assume that Intego ONE, as an antivirus suite, would include virus scanning for the iPhone, it does not. Traditional viruses on iPhones are quite rare due to the sandboxing of iOS apps, Apple’s stringent software distribution controls, and the robust security features built into the operating system. However, this does not render the iPhone invulnerable; threats such as spyware, security exploits, and compromised accounts can still jeopardize personal information.

Intego does not claim to replace Apple’s malware protection. Instead, it positions itself as a complementary service, enhancing user control over connections and security decisions.

Who should consider Intego ONE Complete?

Mac and iPhone owners: This group stands to gain the most from the new changes. The Mac version offers robust antivirus and firewall protection, complemented by SmartClean and a VPN. On the iPhone, users benefit from the same VPN alongside Wi-Fi security checks and device security assessments.

Individuals considering Complete for the VPN: The ability to utilize the subscription on your phone enhances the VPN’s value, particularly for frequent travelers or those who often connect to public Wi-Fi.

Those seeking iPhone-only protection: Intego ONE may be less justifiable solely for its iPhone features, as the suite’s primary value still resides in its Mac offerings. For users without a Mac or those not in need of Mac antivirus protection, a standalone VPN or dedicated iPhone security service may be more appropriate.

Does the iPhone app make Intego ONE Complete better value?

Our review of Intego ONE previously recommended the suite for its strong malware detection, firewall capabilities, performance, and user-friendliness, although it lacked features such as phishing protection and parental controls.

While the new iPhone app does not address these gaps, it enhances the Complete tier’s value for users with both Mac and iPhone devices. The Mac version includes antivirus, firewall protection, SmartClean, and a VPN, while the iPhone version offers the VPN, Wi-Fi security checks, and tools to identify critical security settings. It is essential to remember that this app is not an antivirus solution for the iPhone.

For current Complete subscribers, the iPhone app is a valuable addition at no extra cost. For potential customers with multiple Apple devices, the offering becomes even more appealing, especially for those seeking a comprehensive security solution under a single subscription.
