Ubisoft has taken a significant step in its collaboration with Xbox, enhancing the gaming experience for players across platforms. Following the successful integration of many of its titles into the Game Pass service a couple of years ago, Ubisoft is now offering an enticing new initiative for Xbox gamers. Players who own or purchase select Ubisoft games through the Microsoft Store will receive a complimentary PC version via the Ubisoft Connect launcher.
Details of the Offer
This innovative console-to-PC offer will initially encompass 13 popular titles:
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
- Far Cry 6
- Immortals Fenyx Rising
- Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
- Riders Republic
- Skull and Bones
- The Crew 2
- The Crew Motorfest
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
- Watch Dogs Legion
Starting July 21, customers who purchase a digital version of any of the listed titles will gain immediate access to both the Xbox console and Xbox on PC digital versions. For those who already own a digital version on Xbox, the PC counterpart will be made available during a gradual rollout from July 21 to August 4, as explained by the Xbox team.
Understanding the Limitations
It is important to note that this dual-entitlement offer differs from Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere program, which allows players to enjoy full cross-save and cross-progression capabilities between Xbox and PC. Instead, this initiative is strictly a console-to-PC transition; thus, purchasing the PC version of a Ubisoft game will not entitle customers to the Xbox version at no additional cost.
Furthermore, while Season Passes and add-on content purchased on Xbox are expected to transfer to the PC version, in-game currencies and consumables will not be included in this offer. Additionally, not all games listed above will support cross-progression between the Xbox and PC platforms.
Expanding Availability on the Xbox App
In conjunction with this announcement, Ubisoft is also broadening the availability of its games through the Xbox app on PC. New additions to the lineup include Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Star Wars Outlaws, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Skull and Bones, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Although the Xbox Wire post does not explicitly state it, it is likely that these titles will still be accessed via the Ubisoft Connect app, akin to how games from Blizzard and EA are integrated with the Xbox app through their respective platforms.
