Valve has unveiled the latest iteration of its Proton compatibility layer, a significant advancement for Linux gamers eager to explore the vast library of Windows titles. Proton 11 has officially launched, now rebased on Wine 11, and is readily available to Linux users through the compatibility tab in Steam settings, or on a per-game basis within individual game settings.
This version builds upon the beta that debuted last April, which notably introduced support for the cult classic Deadly Premonition, alongside a host of other enhancements. Among the most anticipated fixes is the improved “KDE window maximization support,” a welcome remedy for users like myself who encountered issues while connecting their desktops to TVs.
